Jamaican Clifton Jones, playing
the part of Kano, has lived in
England since 1958. He studied at
the Conti Stage School, and while
still a student, appeared in 'Billy
Budd'. Numerous other stage
roles followed, on tour and in
repertory--and he played in such
London productions as 'Moon On
A Rainbow Shawl' and 'A Taste
Of Honey'. He's been with Joan
Littlewood's Theatre Royal,
Stratford East company, has been
in films ('V.I.P.s', 'Decline And
Fall', 'Innocent Bystanders') and
made his television debut in
'Emergency--Ward Ten'.
Clifton Jones was in the Royal
Air Force for two years national
service--but it's taken 'Space
1999' to get him airborne as far as
Moonbase Alpha!

A British national, Zienia
Merton--Sandra Benes in the
series--has an extraordinarily
varied background. Daughter of a
half-English, half-French father
and a Burmese mother; born in
Brunei; brought up in Singapore,
Borneo, Portugal and England!
   Petite, dark-haired Zienia left
home to study dancing in London,
and then opted to learn drama as
well. Her acting debut was as an elf
in an open-air production of 'A
Midsummer Night's Dream' and
her first film part was as a Chinese
girl who made a play for Gregory
Peck in 'The Chairman'. She has
appeared in many British
television productions, but this is
her first continuous series role.
