THE SEANCE SPECTRE

Compare with ITC summary.

Collision course with a gigantic planet! Moonbase Alpha must evacuate... but how long can they last adrift in space?

A gigantic planet is sighted on a direct collision course with the runaway moon. Commander Koenig and Maya immediately take off in Eagle One to investigate this ominous disaster. When Koenig orders Main Mission Control off limits, a small group of Alphans become very distressed. They believe that Koenig is withholding information and that the planet is habitable. Their leader, Sanderson accuses Koenig of being a dictator on the base and is deceiving the base to protect his authority. Koenig rejects this but decides to take a closer look at the planet having his Eagle tracked by the main computer so that everyone on the base can see what he finds.

Koenig orders Sanderson and crew to be confined to medical center but Sanderson breaks away and damages the computer readout forcing the Eagle to crash on the planet surface. Koenig and Maya find that the planet is a deserted wasteland with very little oxygen. On Alpha, First Officer Verdeschi and Capt. Alan Carter start the damaged engines by remote control and blast the Eagle back to Alpha.

Koenig decides that the only way to avoid a collision is to blast the moon off course by detonating the remaining nuclear waste dumps. In order to minimize loss of life, the entire base is evacuated into every operating Eagle. Meanwhile, Sanderson has escaped into a travel tube and prepares plans of his own. Maya and Koenig fly in Eagle One to the nuclear waste dumps to set up the explosives. As John triggers the timing device, Sanderson appears and shoots him with a laser and damages Eagle One. Now the fate of Alpha lies in the hands of this maniac.
