A Matter Of Balance

The final shooting script dated 7th June 1976 was replaced by a new amended shooting script on 20th July. This is a page from the 20th July script. On 30th July, further line amendments and rewrite pages were issued, including for this page.

As she talks, she moves to the exit like in a dream ...
and goes out passing KOENIG as he comes in.
KOENIG stares after her a moment, then looks toward
TONY and MAYA.

TONY

John - you haven't been down
to my quarters in weeks.

KOENIG

I wouldn't have taken the chance
now if Maya hadn't mentioned
that your beer making machine was
out of wack.

TONY

Okay. Nobody's a hero in his
own home town. But one of
these days...

Is caught by a sudden thought, turns to MAYA.

TONY

How about Shermeen? Couple of
days ago she was pining away
due to unrequited love ...
and now she looked through me
like I was...

MAYA

Antimatter?

TONY

(a revelation, maybe)

Hey ... anti-matter.

He's back to his machine.

TONY (contd.)

If I could blend some
anti-matter barley with
hops that matter...

KOENIG and MAYA stare at each other, then look
towards TONY's back like there's no hope for him ...
Then they walk out together, TONY not even noticing.
