SFX footage from the World Backgrounds library. The library contains many alternative takes and longer shots (sometimes including clapperboards). A few examples have appeared on the Network DVDs bonus disc, but many have never been seen. Episode shots are outlined in red, all other shots from the library.
(HD) Slow zoom through volcanoes. This is scene 10, a POV as Fraser flies ("Nothing, Commander, except volcanoes"), in the episode cut into 2 short sequences. The first take is 50 seconds (static for the first 8 seconds and last 8 seconds); the left volcano has no smoke. The second take is seen in the episode, but is only 32 seconds, with 8 seconds static at start, 6 seconds static at end, and with 2 short cuts in the zoom.
Static shot. A foreground rock starts to glow. After a cut (at 20 seconds) it disappears and the scene continues for another 15 seconds. A white card appears at the start with legend "episode 1 scene 16". Seen in episode when ball of light appears that will chase the survey Eagle (a post production effect not seen here).
