This is the almost full sized Eagle built in Sines, near Lisbon in Portugal, in the late 1970s and photographed in 1998 by Paulo Jorge Morgado (thanks again, Paulo).
According to João Plácido (writing in 2008), the Eagle was first made as a float in the Sines carnival. Children were dressed in spacesuits, and a rocket at the top of the Eagle fired coloured confetti. After the carnival, the Eagle was moved to the Parque Infantil de Sines (IOS) where it was the centrepiece of the children's playground for many years. When the park was restructured, around 2005, the Eagle was moved out of public view into Zona de Indústria Ligeira (ZIL 2), an industrial zone of Sines.
