In the final episode of the current series of Space 1999, Moonbase Alpha is caught up in a war between two planets when Martin Landau, Barbara Bain and Barry Morse star in the episode "The Last Enemy."
And by 1999, it seems, Women's Lib. has reached full fruition. The two rival war leaders are glamorous women!
One is Caroline Mortimer, the other Maxine Audley.
The battle between planets is sparked off by the loveliest warlord you've ever seen. Or should it be warlady... or even war person?
Whichever it is, Miss Caroline Mortimer agrees that she is as ruthless as any man could be and far more dangerous because she is full of feminine wiles as well.
"A wicked woman!" the tall, dark- haired Miss Mortimer exclaimed. "Funnily enough, although I've played treacherous women in my time husband-stealers and all that sort of thing this is the first time I have been a real baddie."
"It's also the first time I've ever been in a science fiction thriller and the first time I've moved into the future. And most certainly the first time I've been 7,000 years-old, which, so far as I can gather, is about the age Dione is supposed to be."
Dione is the girl who is in command of the warring forces from her planet which makes use of the moon as a ready-made gun platform in space for its battle against a rival planet.
When first seen, Dione is looking ultra glamorous in a long, white, low- backed dress, her make up flecked with gold dust.
