1.EXT. SPACE (SFX)
A blue dot travels through space.
Blue light travels to Moon.
Light travels over revolving north west horizon of Moon.
Light moves over lunar mountains.
2. INT. MAIN MISSION
Koenig & Victor look out balcony window.
KOENIG: "What do you make of it, Victor?"
VICTOR: "Not much. It's a new one on me."
Koenig walks to the balcony rail & looks over Main Mission.
KOENIG: "Paul."
PAUL: "It's still not registering, Commander."
Koenig looks back at Victor.
4. INT. LIVING QUARTERS
Test card is replaced by a service girl on the screen, with a chime.
GIRL (on screen): "Calling technician Anton Zoref. Good day. This is your alarm call. Duty period commences in thirty minutes. Thank you."
The screen blanks; track over bedside table & blipping digital clock to the Zorefs in the red sheets of their bed. Eva pushes Anton's back; he turns & snuggles up to her, but she points over him at the clock. He looks round, turns back to kiss her again, then gets up.
EXT. MOONBASE ALPHA (SFX)
Radar turns on circular building as blue light approaches.
Closer view from opposite angle as light recedes over radar.
5. INT. MAIN MISSION
David foreground as Koenig & Victor come down from balcony.
KOENIG: "We have computer identification yet?"
DAVID: "Nothing, Commander. No indication that there is anything out there at all."
Koenig & Victor reach Paul.
KOENIG: "I don't like it. Paul. Assemble all section heads."
Koenig & Victor go to the office doors.
6/7. INT. GENERATING AREA
Follow Anton as opens the double red doors, marked 'Anti Radiation Door/ Keep Closed/ At All Times', with his comlock & walks into the generating area. He looks up to the balcony.
ANTON: "Mark!"
MARK: "Yeah." ((he walks to rail)) "You'll see there was one moment of high drama. A condenser blew on panel number three. All yours, Anton."
Anton catches the clipboard he has thrown down.
ANTON: "Sleep well."
Anton goes to a desk.
8 EXT. MOONBASE ALPHA (SFX)
Light moves over Main Mission Tower.
9. INT. MAIN MISSION
Helena & Alan enter & walk to Koenig & Victor.
HELENA: "What is it, John?"
KOENIG: "I don't know. There's something out there we don't understand."
As Koenig reaches the top of the steps he slows & stops.
View from Paul to Koenig & rest of staff, motionless.
Over view of staff, frozen.
10. INT. GENERATING AREA
Anton carries his clipboard to another panel. He turns round & looks at NGA 3. He looks round apprehensively, then returns to the panels.
EXT. MOONBASE ALPHA (SFX)
Light moves over tower.
Light descends to base.
Light moves into the tower.
10. INT. GENERATING AREA
The blue light fills the observation window above the monitor room. Anton backs to the comms post, then activates it.
ANTON: "Main Mission."
11. INT. MAIN MISSION
ANTON (face on small monitor): "This is technician Zoref. Please, acknowledge, Main Mission."
But the staff are motionless.
12. INT. CORRIDOR
Corridor outside Medical as girl walks along & a man wheels a trolley into the Medical door. Neither moves.
ANTON (VO): "Calling all sections Alpha: will someone please answer."
13. INT. LIVING QUARTERS
Eva is frozen
ANTON (on comms post): "Emergency in Generating Area. Please acknowledge."
14. INT. GENERATING AREA
The light fills the window.
ANTON: "Please acknowledge, Main Mission!"
The light fills the window, still growing. Anton turns his back to the comms post. His hands go to his face (focus goes; low angle from floor, slow motion & cut in 3 segments:) Anton falls from the post to lie on his back.
15. INT. MAIN MISSION
Koenig & Victor continue again, walking down the steps to Helena.
KOENIG: "And I..I..." ((stops)) "That's strange, what..what was I saying?"
HELENA: "I don't know."
An alarm starts & they go to Paul.
PAUL: "Commander. Security Alert in the Generating Section. Generating Area. This is Main Mission. Report please."
16. INT. GENERATING AREA
Anton lies on the floor (view from floor level, rotating upside down)
PAUL (VO): "Technician Zoref. Report your situation. Technician Zoref. Report your situation."

EXT. SPACE (SFX)
Moon travels.
EXT. MOONBASE ALPHA (SFX)
18. INT. GENERATING AREA
High angle over Zoref; pull back from him.
HELENA: "He's coming round now."
They help Anton sit.
HELENA: "How do you feel?"
ANTON: "I'm alright." ((stands)) "What happened?"
KOENIG: "Something activated the security alarm."
ANTON: "Well, everything alright in here?"
VICTOR: "No sign of any damage."
ANTON: "Commander, I'll check the area out."
HELENA: "Oh no, you're coming with me. I want to know what caused you to pass out."
ANTON: "I'm alright now."
KOENIG: "You'd better go." ((Helena & Anton leave)) "Victor. This is one area we can't afford to take chances with. Check it out thoroughly."
Koenig leaves.
19. INT. MEDICAL
HELENA: "And you're sure this has never happened before?"
ANTON: "No. Well, not that I know of."
Behind him the medical monitor blanks & the bleeping stops. Helena reacts.
ANTON: "What's the matter, doctor?"
HELENA: "Oh, it's nothing to do with you. One of the monitors, it seems to have failed."
ANTON: "Well, am I clear then?"
Helena removes his electrodes.
HELENA: "Not quite. You're still in a state of shock. And, I'm putting you on restricted duties."
ANTON (angrily): "Doctor, I'm responsible for a great deal of specialised equipment."
HELENA: "And someone else will tend it for a while. Now, I want you to rest. And relax."
She gives him his comlock. Anton goes to the door, opens it with his comlock & leaves. Helena goes to the comms post.
HELENA: "Doctor Mathias."
BOB (on screen): "Yes, Doctor?"
HELENA: "One of the Medical monitors has blown, would you fix it please?"
BOB: "Yes, doctor."
20. INT. COMMAND OFFICE
The big doors open for Victor's comlock. He walks through to Koenig, stood below the comms post.
VICTOR: "The instruments have recorded a massive discharge of energy. Here, have a look."
KOENIG: "A fault in the reactor?"
VICTOR: "Well, this energy force was outside the nuclear reactor."
KOENIG: "A radiation leak? A fracture?"
VICTOR: "No sign of any radiation."
KOENIG: "Then what caused it?"
VICTOR: "Umm. That's a good question."
HELENA (appearing on comms post): "John. I'm taking Anton Zoref off of full duty for a few days."
KOENIG: "Alright. Helena. Is there any possibility Zoref has radiation sickness?"
HELENA (on screen): "Oh, nothing like that, just a mild state of shock. I expect a quick recovery." ((screen blanks))
VICTOR: "I could check the scan records for the last twenty four hours."
KOENIG: "Yeah, do it, Victor. If there is a link we've got to find it."
VICTOR: "Uh huh." ((leaves))
21. INT. LIVING QUARTERS
Eva comes out of the bathroom, wearing a blue towel after her shower. As she enters the living area Anton grabs her from behind & pulls her onto his lap.
EVA: "Doctor's orders were to rest."
ANTON: "I feel fine."
They smile.
EVA: "Phew. It's stifling in here." ((she goes to controls)) "This is turned on full!"
ANTON: "Oh, yes, I, ah, ..I felt cold.. No. Leave it."
EVA: "But it's far too hot in here."
ANTON (jumping to feet): "I said leave it!" ((Eva is shocked. Anton backs)) "Please."
Beat. Eva goes past him into the bedroom, closing the double doors. Anton looks after her & sits, flicking through the pages of a book. (close on him; sound FX of heart beat). He looks up at a lamp. Cross cuts between lamp & him, as focus goes. The lamp dies. Anton stands & feels his face. Eva returns in her uniform.
EVA: "What's the matter?"
ANTON: "I don't know.. Well, the lamp must have blown."
EVA: "Did Doctor Russell check you out thoroughly?"
ANTON (interrupting): "I'm alright. It's just being cooped up in here, I need some fresh air."
EVA (cheerfully): "We could all do with a bit of that here on Alpha."
ANTON: "Yes, well I'll have to settle for a walk down the corridor, won't I?"
He picks up his belt & comlock & leaves.
22. INT. COMMAND OFFICE
Victor shows Koenig a chart with three jagged lines.
VICTOR: "Well, that's the scan record. Quite normal. Except for that." ((indicates blue smudge))
KOENIG: "What is it?"
VICTOR: "That's the energy force. And it was recorded at the same moment that Zoref passed out. Yet all the systems in the generating area are functioning perfectly, no fractures, no flaws, no leaks. This is something entirely new to Alpha."
KOENIG: "If it didn't originate on Alpha, which is what you're saying,.."
VICTOR: "Uh huh."
KOENIG: "..where did it come from? There's no energy source anywhere near us in space. That could have caused that."
VICTOR: "Uh, there obviously is."
23. EXT. GENERATING AREA
Anton walks along a corridor, passing the NGA 3 doors. He stops & goes to them.
24. INT. GENERATING AREA
Mark looks up from his desk through the monitor room window.
ANTON: "How we doing, Mark?"
MARK: "Fine." ((he walks out & to him)) "They pulled this place apart trying to find out what hit you. But how you feeling, eh?"
ANTON: "Oh, alright now." ((looks through clipboard pages)) "Did they find anything?"
MARK: "They took away all the monitoring tapes. Any idea what happened?"
ANTON (sits at desk, concerned): "I see Generator Number Four's ten days into a major refit. You know we can't afford to reduce power output!"
MARK: "Relax, everything's alright in here."
ANTON: "Well, I'm not very good at relaxing."
MARK: "Ergomania, it's called. A compulsive need to work."
He leaves Anton at the desk. Mark sits at the desk in the monitor room (scene 25). As Anton works over the desk we hear the heart beat sound FX. Anton feels his face & staggers from the desk, weakly.
ANTON: "Mark." ((Mark looks up through window)) "Mark."
(Scene 26) Mark walks through to the shivering Anton.
MARK: "Anton?"
ANTON: "...I'm cold... ..I'm freezing..."
Mark goes to the coffee dispenser & brings him back a mug.
MARK: "Here. Drink that, Anton."
Anton takes the coffee, shivering. The mug shatters on the floor, leaving its contents as a dirty ice ball. Mark is confounded.
ANTON: "What's wrong with me?"
Mark catches him as he falls. With a searing sound frost appears over Anton's face. The glow fades from Anton's face. Mark falls, frozen over. Anton backs, then leaves (view over Mark's corpse in angled wide shot). Close on Mark's wrist, with the wrist monitor lights flashing.
27. INT. MEDICAL
BOB: "There's nothing wrong with the machine itself, Doctor Russell. It was the energy cells. They were completely drained."
COMPUTER (on post screen): "Technician Mark Dominix Life Functions Terminated."
They leave.
28. INT. GENERATING AREA
Mark on the floor.
FADE OUT
29. INT. GENERATING AREA
Helena holds up his wrist monitor.
BOB: "The Commander is just coming."
Mark is wheeled off, led by Bob as Koenig & Victor enter.
KOENIG: "Victor. Check things out for any signs of damage." ((to Helena)) "What happened?"
HELENA: "All we know is that he died seven minutes ago. Death seems to have been caused by sudden, instant, freezing."
KOENIG (walking round): "I don't understand. There is nothing in here that can do that. First Zoref. Then Mark Dominix. There's got to be a connection. Helena. We've got to find out what caused it and why."
HELENA: "Well, I'll rush through an autopsy. But I don't know that I'll have those answers."
Helena leaves & Victor approaches.
VICTOR: "Well, there doesn't seem to be any sign of any damage. I'll, ah, get Zoref to take over in here."
KOENIG: "No, Victor. I'm making this a restricted area. Until we know more, we can run some more tests. Whatever we're looking for has got to be linked to this Generating Area."
30. INT. LIVING QUARTERS
Eva enters & sees the back of Anton's head in a chair.
EVA: "Anton. What's wrong?" ((goes to him)) "I asked you a question, Anton."
ANTON (quiet hostility): "Don't come near me."
EVA: "What's the trouble, darling?"
ANTON (more firmly): "Don't....come...any nearer."
PAUL (on post screen): "Attention all sections Alpha. Here is a special announcement, effective immediately. Access to the Generating Area is forbidden. Until further notice."
EVA: "What was all that about?"
ANTON (very quietly): "It's Dominix. He's dead."
EVA (distraught): "Dominix? Dead? How do you know?"
ANTON: "I was there."
EVA: "But what happened?"
ANTON (looks up): "Eva, s-sit down. Over there. Please." ((she sits)) "Something happened. In that Generating Area."
EVA: "Anton, you're not in any trouble, are you?"
ANTON: "You've got to trust me, Eva."
EVA (stands): "Please tell me what's wrong."
ANTON: "I don't know. I can't explain." ((Eva advances; Anton backs in his seat)) "Please!" ((Eva stops)) "Don't..try to touch me." ((he sits up; very quiet)) "I'm not well." ((stands & goes to door)) "I must see Doctor Russell."
EVA (starts after him): "Let me come with you."
ANTON: "No! No, I don't want to get you involved, now promise me you'll stay here."
EVA: "But Anton.."
ANTON: "Now promise me!"
EVA (nods): "Alright. I'll wait for you here. But if you're sick, you will tell me, won't you?"
ANTON: "I'll be back as soon as I can."
Anton leaves.
31. INT. COMMAND OFFICE
Koenig is at his desk. His comlock bleeps: he takes it, checks the screen & opens a section of the big doors for Victor.
VICTOR: "Here, John. Have a look at this first plate again. The one taken in the Generating Station when Zoref had his accident."
KOENIG: "So?"
VICTOR: "Uh. This is one that was taken at the moment of Dominix's death. See. Same energy force. Now, you could accept a freak electrical discharge from space once, but not twice."
KOENIG: "So it's present when Zoref collapses, and it's also present when Dominix dies."
VICTOR: "Umm."
KOENIG: "It's got to be the connection."
VICTOR: "And this alien force is here. Right now. Somewhere on Alpha."
32. INT. CORRIDOR
Anton reaches the Medical Centre doors & holds his head in pain. A nurse emerges from Medical & sees him (sound fx: heart beat)
HILARY: "Are you alright?"
Anton doesn't reply. Nervously she walks past Anton. He looks up to the Medical Centre sign, then follows Hilary.
(Scene 33) Hilary walks on. Beyond, Anton appears round a corner. Hilary looks back. Anton stumbles against the side of the corridor. He then crosses uneasily to the other side of the corridor. Hilary watches from a distance, scared. Anton leans against a light panel. It fades. Hilary looks round, disturbed (slow motion). Anton follows, now more upright & menacing. Hilary breaks into a run as Anton strides purposefully on. (Scene 34) Hilary runs towards a travel tube as a service & Main Mission man are entering. She reaches the closing doors too late as Anton strides after her. She runs left into a dead end. Anton's footsteps are now distorted by an echo chamber. Hilary runs right to another dead end. As Anton approaches the panels behind him fade. Hilary is trapped in the middle. Anton raises his arms as he approaches. Hilary screams.
FADE OUT
35. INT. MEDICAL
COMPUTER (on post screen): "Medical Orderly Hilary Preston Life Functions Terminated."
Helena & Bob go to the door.
36. INT. CORRIDOR
Hilary lies frozen on the stretcher. Helena goes to her & closes the girl's eyes.
KOENIG: "The same as Dominix."
HELENA: "Yeah. You can take her away now."
KOENIG: "Whatever killed Hilary is no longer in the Generating Area. It was right here in this hallway." ((takes comlock)) "Kano. What's the power situation?"
DAVID (on comlock screen): "It's being restored now, sir."
KOENIG: "What caused it?"
DAVID (on screen): "Storage cells are exhausted, Commander. Something caused a massive loss of power in that entire area."
HELENA: "That's hardly a coincidence. We see this freezing effect." ((Hilary is wheeled off)) "Those two deaths were a result of total heat loss. Now light, or life, is simply another form of heat. And in both cases, the loss was sudden and complete. Whatever this alien force is, John, it seems that it's consuming heat." ((lights return)) "Of course, that's just pure theory."
KOENIG: "But the best so far."
37. INT. CORRIDOR
Eva walks down a corridor. Hilary is wheeled past her, to her alarm.
38. INT. MAIN MISSION
KOENIG (enters): "Sandra. I want you to monitor all power levels on Alpha. Report any fluctuation to me immediately."
SANDRA: "Yes, sir."
KOENIG: "Paul. I want security patrols at every strategic location on Alpha. Ready to move at a moment's notice." ((runs up steps)) "And get Professor Bergman here right away." ((he opens the office doors with his comlock))
39. INT. MEDICAL
Helena is sat at her desk. She opens the door with her comlock & Eva enters.
EVA (distressed): "Doctor Russell, where's Anton?" ((Helena looks blank)) "Well, he came to see you, didn't he? He's here, isn't he?"
HELENA (stands): "No. I haven't seen him since I examined him."
Eva bows her head. She walks round Helena & faces away, close to tears.
EVA: "But he said he was coming here."
HELENA: "Now tell me what's wrong, Eva."
EVA: "I don't know. Anton's sick. Something happened when he was with Dominix. Please find him, Doctor. I'm afraid."
She sobs as Helena puts her hands on her shoulders.
40. INT. COMMAND OFFICE
HELENA (on desk screen): "I'm concerned about it, John. I think you should check."
KOENIG: "Thank you, Helena."
Koenig switches off the screen & he & Victor walk through the big doors.
KOENIG: "Kano."
40. INT. MAIN MISSION
KOENIG: "Run a computer check on Anton Zoref's whereabouts for the last ten hours. Specifically the last time he entered the generating Area."
David types, then tears off a readout.
DAVID: "Anton Zoref last entered Generating Area at twenty forty five lunar time."
VICTOR: "He was there when Dominix died."
KOENIG (walking down steps): "Find him, Paul."
41. EXT. SOLARIUM
Anton looks round & sees the Solarium Area doors. He walks up to stand before them.
42. INT. SOLARIUM
Pull back from a girl's black sunglasses. She lies on a sun bed. The sun lamp goes off. She stands & leaves the bed, one of several against a wall. She walks through the sunken section, as a black man on one of the central beds leaves. A blonde girl takes a bed on the central section. Sound: elevator music.
View through the bent leg of a sunbathing girl to the door. The door opens & Anton enters.
Anton's POV of sunbathing girl.
He approaches her (sound: music fades & heart beat heard) He sees the sun lamps & lies on a bed. Focus fades on him, absorbing the light.
43. INT. MAIN MISSION
Pull back from protractor unit flashing on Sandra's desk.
SANDRA: "Commander. Fluctuation in the energy levels."
KOENIG: "Where?"
SANDRA: "Section C, the Solarium."
KOENIG: "Alan." ((he, Victor & Alan rush off))
44. INT. SOLARIUM
The girl stands & looks round. With Tanya she sees Anton through vegetation, glowing red. The girl puts her hand to her mouth in shock.
45. INT. CORRIDOR
Koenig & guards run from the travel unit.
46. INT. SOLARIUM
The girls retreat to the comms post.
TANYA: "Security. Solarium here. We need some help in here. Please come quickly."
The sun lamp fades over Anton. He stands. The door opens & Koenig, Victor & the guards enter.
KOENIG: "Hold it, Zoref!" ((the diverts his laser)) "No, the power."
He shoots a control panel on one wall. The lights die & Anton falls.
FADE OUT
47. INT. SOLARIUM
Helena holds a bleeping instrument over Anton.
HELENA: "He's alive."
VICTOR: "I don't know how, after absorbing almost all the power."
KOENIG: "Well, we can't leave him here."
HELENA: "We can't move him, it's too dangerous."
Koenig holds his torch down to Anton. Helena watches in alarm.
KOENIG: "He doesn't seem to be absorbing energy now."
Koenig puts down the torch & bends to Anton. Cautiously his hand touches Anton's face.
KOENIG: "He's safe."
HELENA: "For the moment at least."
48. INT. MEDICAL
Bob switches on & off the lamp of the remote sensor over Anton. Helena takes a plate from the top of it & gives it to Bob.
HELENA: "Get these to Professor Bergman right away."
BOB: "Yes, Doctor."
Nurses put restraints & straps over Anton.
HELENA: "Take him into the observation room."
Anton is wheeled past as Koenig enters.
KOENIG: "Well, if there is any connection between Zoref and the energy losses, that connection is broken now."
HELENA: "Let's hope the scans give us the answer."
Close on a light bulb being attached to Anton's chest strap.
HELENA: "That light will act as an early warning system."
KOENIG: "Fine. But I don't want you to go in there for any reason. The first sign of any activity, call me." ((starts off)) "Oh, and, uh, Helena. There's a ..security man right outside."
HELENA: "Don't worry. He can't come out of there. And I'm certainly not going in."
Koenig leaves, passing the guard outside. Helena presses the yellow row of buttons on the security room door.
50. INT. COMMAND OFFICE
VICTOR (holds up a thermographic plate): "That's it. That's the force that killed Dominix. And the girl. But it's inside Zoref. I tried a computer analysis. Can't recognise it. But it told me something else. This force has only been on Alpha for ten hours, but already it's growing like mad, out of all proportion to the heat or energy it's consuming."
KOENIG: "Why Zoref?"
VICTOR: "Who knows?"
KOENIG: "Could it be..that it's lain dormant out there in space, just waiting, for Zoref, for a catalyst, something to operate through?"
VICTOR: "Yes, but for what purpose?"
KOENIG: "Well, Victor, we can speculate for ever. But that's not our problem. What we've got to do, is to destroy that force, while it's still relatively weak."
52. INT. MEDICAL
Helena turns from watching Anton through the window & goes to her desk. The room is lit in low light. Close on Anton through window. The light on his chest goes out. His eyes open. Helena looks at papers. Anton flexes & his chest strap springs off. He rises & leans his head & hands against the door, straining & grunting. The door finally falls outwards. Helena jumps up. Focus fades on his face. She backs, as Anton follows. She darts round the shelves as Anton slowly approaches. She makes a dash for the door & tries to open it with her comlock, but the door remains closed.
55. INT. MAIN MISSION
SANDRA: "Commander. Emergency in the Medical Centre. All power gone. Automatic systems not functioning."
KOENIG: "Helena." ((he & Alan run out))
56. INT. MEDICAL
Helena hits the door with her comlock.
HELENA: "Open the door!"
57. INT. CORRIDOR
The guard tries to open the door with his comlock.
INT. MEDICAL
Helena runs from the door.
57. INT. CORRIDOR
The guard fires his laser at the door control. He pushes the doors open.
58. INT. MEDICAL
The guard enters.
HELENA: "Look out..."
The guard is grabbed by the neck & becomes frosted. He falls by Helena. Anton leaves. Helena goes to the guard. (Scene 60) Koenig & Alan burst in & see the guard.

EXT. MOONBASE ALPHA (SFX)
Low shot.
61. INT. MAIN MISSION
KOENIG (at desk): "Attention all sections Alpha. This is Commander John Koenig. Technician Anton Zoref "
62. INT. CORRIDOR
KOENIG (on comms post): " has escaped from the security wing of the Medical Centre."
Two guards by another post. In foreground one touches his laser in its holster.
KOENIG (on screen): "All Alpha personnel are warned that technician Zoref is highly dangerous. He is not, repeat not, to be approached."
INT. MAIN MISSION
KOENIG: "During this emergency, all side arms are to be worn."
64. INT. LIVING QUARTERS
Close on Eva.
KOENIG (on comms post): "And if attacked...shoot to kill. Keep posted for further instructions."
Eva hurriedly leaves.
65. INT. MAIN MISSION
KOENIG: "Paul." ((walks down steps; Paul comes up; in whispers)) "How quickly can we shut down all Moonbase power?"
PAUL: "You mean shut down the reactors?"
KOENIG: "No. Just the supplies leading from them."
PAUL: "Oh, that would take a matter of seconds, but.."
KOENIG: "Survival factor?"
PAUL: "Well, in twenty minutes all our sick in the Intensive Care Unit will die. Thirty minutes, our ..recycling plants will be ..damaged beyond repair. At forty our oxygen will give out."
ALPHA SECTION B (VO): "Alpha Section B. Power loss now critical."
KOENIG: "Kano. You traced him yet?"
DAVID: "Not yet, Commander. Relay in all the affected areas is not working."
KOENIG: "Victor. What's the situation?"
VICTOR: "These are all the areas affected so far. Severe power loss in every section of the quadrant. Starting to see a sense of direction."
SANDRA: "Commander. We have Zoref on visual. He's in section C."
KOENIG: "Put it up on the Big Screen."
-Big Screen (SFX): Anton in corridor, lights fading behind him as he appraoches.
-Main Mission (Scene 67):
KOENIG: "Let's see corridor fifteen."
SANDRA: "Power in corridor fifteen also failed."
VICTOR (consulting his map): "He's at intersection fifteen forty nine. Put up corridor sixteen."
-Big Screen (SFX): empty corridor.
-Main Mission:
VICTOR: "Try forty nine."
-Big Screen (SFX): another empty corridor.
-Main Mission:
VICTOR: "He must be in fifty."
SANDRA: "No power in fifty."
VICTOR: "That's it. There's only one section left in that quadrant."
KOENIG: "The Generating Area."
VICTOR: "With all the energy he needs."
KOENIG: "If he gets to that reactor, we're all dead. We'll never be able to stop him from getting to the other Generating Areas. Paul. Alert Security. Generating Area Three. Tell them we're on our way. Alan."
PAUL (as Alan & Koenig leave): "Main Mission to Generating Area Three. Full alert. Do not approach technician Zoref."
68. EXT. GENERATING AREA
Eva passes the sign (on glass panel in foreground) 'Nuclear Generating Area'.
69. INT. MAIN MISSION
SANDRA: "First energy losses in section F recorded."
PAUL: "Where?"
SANDRA: "Corridor fifty three."
PAUL: "Attention F section personnel."
70. INT. CORRIDOR
A service man & Kate walk out into a corridor.
PAUL (on comms post): "Technician Zoref is now somewhere in your area. You are warned to avoid contact."
Anton strides along. The two Alphans run off.
71. INT. TRAVEL TUBE (SFX)
Travel Unit speeds up.
Unit speeds on.
Unit slows.
72. INT. CORRIDOR
Koenig leads the others out of the Unit to the waiting guards.
KOENIG: "What's his last position?"
GUARD: "Approaching section F."
KOENIG (taking comlock): "Paul. Cut the power."
73. INT. MAIN MISSION
PAUL: "Cutting power now, Commander." ((to Sandra)) "Cut it."
74. EXT. MOONBASE ALPHA (SFX)
Lights go out on base.
75. INT. MEDICAL
Bob & an orderly tend a patient, with respiration mask over his face. The lights go & the patient's back arches up.
BOB: "Disconnect him, quickly."
Bob goes to the comms post, but it is dead. He takes away the pillow & starts pumping on the patient's chest.
EXT. MOONBASE ALPHA (SFX)
Low shot of base as lights fade.
The lights of viewports fade on buildings.
76. INT. CORRIDOR
The lights die: Anton stops.
The man & Kate run round as Eva walks up.
MAN: "Get back! Get back!"
Eva walks on.
(Scene 77) Anton stumbles round a corner & up to a comms post to fall against it. (sound: heart beat)
(Scene 78) Koenig, Helena, Victor, the guards & Alan run up.
ALAN: "I may be able to cut him off."
KOENIG (as Alan leaves): "Alright, but watch yourself!"
(Scene 79) Eva stops & looks down the corridor to see Anton against the wall.
EVA: "Anton."
ANTON (looking round): "Eva... No.."
EVA: "Come with me, Anton, we can help you."
Anton staggers against some shelves in the corridor.
ANTON: "No.. ...No.."
EVA: "You must come away from here. There's a chance we can help you."
ANTON (backs): "Don't... Don't touch me, please, they'll kill you.."
EVA: "Go back, Anton. There's still time."
ANTON: "Keep away. Keep away."
EVA: "Come with me, Anton."
ANTON: "Keep away from me!"
Anton looks up; a new look crosses him. He stands up straight & walks to Eva. (distorted POV as approaches Eva). Suddenly she is swept to the side by Alan. Anton continues past them.
EVA: "No! I want to stay with him!"
ALAN: "No." ((he tries to hold up his laser, but she stops him))
EVA: "Oh, let me go, oh, oh! Oh, let me go with him."
Koenig & the others join them.
ALAN (indicating after Anton): "Down there."
KOENIG: "Helena, you take her."
EVA: "Don't let them kill him, please."
Helena takes her away as the others go on.
80. INT. MEDICAL
Bob hits the patient's chest. He grabs his comlock.
BOB: "Morrow! What's happened to the power in here!"
81. INT. MAIN MISSION
PAUL: "All power's been cut. Commander's orders."
80. INT. MEDICAL
BOB: "But our patients are dying!"
ORDERLY (with patient): "Doctor. Doctor."
BOB: "We need that power!" ((he drops his comlock & returns to the patient))
82. INT. CORRIDOR
Koenig stops running as his comlock bleeps. He answers it.
PAUL (VO): "Commander Koenig."
KOENIG: "Yes."
83. INT. MAIN MISSION
PAUL: "Our people are starting to die. In a few minutes it will be too late. I request permission to restore power immediately."
INT. CORRIDOR
KOENIG: "Not until I say so. And that's final."
83. INT. MAIN MISSION
Paul bows his head to his desk.
84. INT. CORRIDOR
Anton walks to the red NGA 3 doors & staggers to lean against the doors.
(Scene 85) Victor staggers, feeling his chest. They stop.
KOENIG: "Victor." ((Victor gasps for breath)) "You alright?"
VICTOR: "Just not the.. best of climates for a clockwork heart. I'm alright. Come on."
They run off again.
They run up to see Anton.
KOENIG: "Zoref! Come away from there!"
Anton struggles against the doors.
VICTOR: "He can't do it. He's too weak."
Anton walks to them. Alan fires a blue ray at Anton, who becomes a charred figure before falling to the ground.
VICTOR: "Of course he had to go for us. We're the only source of heat around."
CU Anton's burnt head. It stirs. The eyes burn white.
KOENIG: "He's alive. The laser. The laser regenerated him."
Anton rises.
VICTOR: "We can't stop him now."
Anton walks to the doors & pushes them open.
KOENIG (taking comlock): "Paul! Restore full power."
INT. MAIN MISSION
Paul's head is on the desk. Weakly he answers.
PAUL: "Yes, Commander." ((he nods to Sandra; she switches on the lights))
INT. CORRIDOR
Lights on. Koenig aims his comlock at the doors to shut them behind Anton.
KOENIG: "Let's get out of here." ((they run off))
86. INT. GENERATING AREA
Anton advances to the reactor door, presses 2 buttons & pulls out a column from a panel. He presses 2 more buttons & withdraws another column.
INT. CORRIDOR
Koenig & the others run away.

Anton pulls the huge door open, revealing blinding white light. He stands before it, then walks into the white light.
88. EXT. MOONBASE ALPHA (SFX)
Buildings before the tower glow.
87. INT. CORRIDOR
Koenig & the others run, then fall against a wall.

The buildings glow.
89. INT. CORRIDOR
Koenig & the others fall backwards, then continue on.

A blackened area where the building was. The blue light rises from it.

The staff go to the viewports.
EXT. MOON SURFACE (SFX)
The light over the lunar mountains.
96. INT. MAIN MISSION
They look out, then back over Main Mission.
KOENIG: "Check the damage and casualties."
PAUL: "All sections Alpha, report your damage."
EXT. MOONBASE ALPHA (SFX)
More buildings.
GENERATING AREA G (VO): "Generating Area G. Reactors One and Two stable. No sign of radiation leaks."
96. INT. MAIN MISSION
ALPHA SECTION (VO): "Alpha Section " ((drowned)) " three casualties " ((drowned)) "None fatal."
SANDRA: "Power levels stabilising."
RADIO (VO): "Technical Section. All Eagle hangars intact. Casualties zero."
KOENIG: "Victor. We're gonna be all right. If that force had gotten to those other reactors.."
VICTOR: "Just one was enough for it's purpose."
KOENIG: "Purpose?"
VICTOR: "Some sort of creative evolution."
EXT. SPACE (SFX)
The blue light.
VICTOR (VO): "A stage in its development. Perhaps the beginnings."
96. INT. MAIN MISSION
VICTOR: "A birth."
KOENIG: "A star?"
VICTOR: "Something like that."
EXT. SPACE (SFX)
Light continues into space.
FADE OUT
EXT. SPACE (SFX)
Light leaves Moon.
97. INT. LIVING QUARTERS
Helena holds Eva's hand. Eva looks up.
HELENA: "Everybody tried their best to help. We- just didn't know how."
Eva stands & looks out the viewport.
EVA (stands & goes to viewport): "I don't understand."
HELENA: "Eva, we're living in deep space. There's so many things we don't understand."
97. EXT. LIVING QUARTERS
View through viewport at them, as Helena comes to Eva.
HELENA: "We don't know what that alien force was. Why it came here. Or why it selected Anton. But we've got to try to help each other. To understand."
Helena touches her chin.
EXT. SPACE (SFX)
The light is a small blue streak travelling left.
