3.INT. MAIN MISSION
Victor watches.
-Big Screen (SFX): Daria.
-Main Mission: Victor walks back from the screen to the others.
VICTOR: "Twenty miles long by five miles wide."
KOENIG: "A hundred square miles of spaceship."
DAVID: "Signal decoded."
KOENIG (going to him): "Let's hear it."
NEMAN (VO): "Emergency, emergency."
-Big Screen (SFX): Daria.
NEMAN (VO): "This is the Commander of the spaceship Daria. A major catastrophe has occurred."
-Main Mission:
NEMAN (VO): "Large areas of our ship are devastated. Thousands of our people are dead. Hundreds sick and dying. We who survive will perish without urgent medical and material aid. Please help us. Our life type conforms to four five oh X two nine four H."
KOENIG: "Kill it. Let's see it close up."
EXT. SPACE (SFX)
CU Daria.
3.INT. MAIN MISSION
PAUL: "We're picking up life signs, Commander."
ALAN: "Maybe it's not too late, Commander."
HELENA: "What do you think, John?"
KOENIG: "We'll need a team. Paul, you'll assess material damage. Helena, medical. Victor, scientific. Lowry, security. Alan, put Eagle One on the pad for immediate lift off. Ann, Sandra, keep all communications systems wide open. Any response from that ship, relay it through to us. Kano, you take over."
4.EXT. SPACE (SFX)
Eagle flies from base to Daria.

NEMAN (VO): "..dead. Hundreds sick and dying. We who survive will.." ((he switches it off & sits at the desk))
6.EXT. SPACE (SFX)
Daria & tiny Eagle.
8.INT. EAGLE PILOT SECTION
ALAN: "Well, there is no sign of a way in, Commander."
KOENIG: "Alan, there's fifty miles of ship... Keep trying."
9.EXT. SPACE (SFX)
CU pan over Daria.
INT. EAGLE PILOT SECTION
The ship shudders.
10.INT. EAGLE PASSENGER SECTION
The passengers notice the shudder.
9.EXT. SPACE (SFX)
Eagle starts to drift into a large recess.

ALAN: "We're being drawn into the ship."

CU Daria's side.

ALAN: "All Eagle systems are smothered."

The Eagle enters the recess.

The Eagle is drawn up to a docking port.
The Eagle connects.
13.INT. EAGLE PILOT SECTION
KOENIG: "See if you can break the hold."
Alan moves levers.
ALAN: "It's no use."
KOENIG (sc 15): "Eagle One calling Main Mission. Eagle One calling Main Mission. Do you read me?" ((static answers; he takes his comlock)) "Eagle One.."
18.EXT. SPACE (SFX)
Eagle. Static heard over.
19.INT. EAGLE PILOT SECTION
Koenig crouches by Alan.
KOENIG: "Try internal. See if we can raise any of the people on this ship."
ALAN: "Alright."
18.EXT. SPACE (SFX)
Eagle.

ALAN: "It's useless."
KOENIG: "Well, we're here. Can we get out again?"

24.EXT. SPACE (SFX)

25.INT. EAGLE PASSENGER SECTION
Koenig & Alan join the others.
KOENIG: "Well?"
VICTOR (to Lowry, unpacking spacesuits): "It's alright. We won't need those. We have breathable atmosphere outside, and a power source somewhere."
KOENIG: "What happened to our communications?"
VICTOR: "Radiation distortion. Even our comlocks are affected. The ship is saturated with atomic radiation."
HELENA: "Radiation?"
VICTOR: "Yeah, but it's too weak to harm us. And, ah,...yes, life signs are confirmed. There is life, somewhere on this ship."
KOENIG: "Let's find it." ((opens Eagle door & enters alien airlock)) "Well, here goes." ((he opens the alien door))
26.INT. AIRLOCK
Slow pan around rubble-strewn entrance hall (from them entering, returning at end of scene to Helena & Lowry, left by the others)
KOENIG: "Now, these two corridors should lead to the main areas of the ship. Victor, you and I will take the one on the right. Paul, you and Alan will follow the one on the left. Helena, you and Lowry will stay back here close to the Eagle. If we don't make contact with the Darians we'll rendezvous back here at sixteen hundred hours, and see if we can get out of this place."
ALAN: "If there's trouble?"
KOENIG: "Well, let's hope the Darians understand our motives. Let's go."
27.INT. CORRIDOR 1
Koenig & Victor stop & look ahead at the corridor, stretching to infinity.
KOENIG: "We're in for a long walk."
VICTOR: "Uh, a ship like this, size of a city, oughta be worth it."
KOENIG: "That remains to be seen."
INT. AIRLOCK
Lowry starts to hum.
28.INT. CORRIDOR 2
Alan & Paul walk into a much more debris strewn corridor.
ALAN: "It's getting worse."
PAUL: "Yes. Let's see how far we can get."
29.INT. AIRLOCK
As Lowry hums, Helena sees an outline on a wall, behind debris & a fallen beam.
HELENA: "Bill." ((Lowry goes to her)) "Look at that."
LOWRY: "Uh." ((he feels the outline))
HELENA: "Is is a door?"
LOWRY: "Hmm. I think you're right. I'll try and move this." ((he grips the beam))
30.INT. CORRIDOR 2
Alan & Paul find their way blocked with debris.
ALAN: "We'll never get through this."
PAUL: "Yeah. Let's go back."
31.INT. AIRLOCK
Lowry pushes open the door to reveal a short passage, leading round a corner.
LOWRY: "Doctor, shouldn't we wait until the others come back."
HELENA: "We should. But let's just take a look."
They hear the sound of small feet & whimpering.
LOWRY: "Back."
Two midgets run round the corner & freeze at the sight of the Alphans. They look nervously back down the corridor, whimpering.
HELENA: "Are you..? Can you speak?" ((the frightened female mute shakes his head)) "What is it? What's the matter." ((the male mute runs past them. Lowry turns after him)) "Bill!"
Lowry falls, struck by a club. Hadin steps out over him.
32.INT. CORRIDOR 1
Two bright ovals of light strike the floor in front of Koenig & Victor. The lights raise to their faces, dazzling them. They raise their lasers. The lights lower, revealing two humanoids in silver suits & helmets.
VICTOR: "Reception committee."
The figures raise their other hands, & fire beams at the Alphans. They collapse. The torches are raised again to shine on their bodies.
EXT. SPACE (SFX)
Eagle docked to Daria.
33.INT. EAGLE PASSENGER SECTION
Alan & Paul enter.
ALAN: "Lowry. Lowry."
Alan looks forward, then notices a small hand behind a passenger seat. They draw their lasers & approach. Crouched between the seats is the terrified male mute.
35.INT. SHIP SETTLEMENT AREA
Helena, Lowry & the female mute are dragged by the barbarian party through the settlement area.
34.INT. REST ROOM
Koenig & Victor lie on couches. Koenig awakes, barely conscious. His POV: blurring in & out of focus, he makes out a suited Darian. He loses consciousness again.
35.INT. SHIP SETTLEMENT AREA
Helena & the others arrive in the settlement area. Many survivors emerge from doors to crowd round the party, & the commotion is loud. Petros walks forward to look at them.
PETROS: "Enough." ((the din subsides)) Take them away."
The commotion resumes as they are dragged off.
HELENA: "Wait! Wait! We came to help! Please! We came to help! Please! Please! Please!"
36.INT. AIRLOCK
Paul & Alan coax the male mute out of the Eagle.
PAUL: "Come on. There's noone here." ((he emerges into the airlock area))
ALAN: "Okay, now you were here when the others came, right?" ((mute nods))
PAUL: "Wher...Which way? There?" ((points down corridor 1; mute moves to the new passage)) "There?"
ALAN: "Hey, Paul, this opening wasn't here before."
PAUL: "No. Will you show us? We need your help. Please? We'll protect you."
Alan shows the mute his laser. The mute reluctantly nods.
37.INT. REST ROOM
Kara walks round Koenig.
39.INT. SHIP SETTLEMENT AREA
The mute leads Alan & Paul onto a balcony.
Their POV: an over view of the forest in the massive hall (matte shot)
They look over it, then start to descend the stairs.
37.INT. REST ROOM
Koenig wakes. He looks up at Kara.
KARA: "Are you recovered?"
FADE OUT
EXT. SPACE (SFX)
Daria.
37.INT. REST ROOM
KOENIG (stands & walks round her): "Why did you attack us? We came to help."
KARA: "You must understand that you are strangers. We found you on our ship. We had to know whether your intentions were hostile or not."
KOENIG: "Then why the hell didn't you ask?"
KARA: "We probed your mind. And the mind of your friend. We know all there is to know about you and your people, Commander Koenig."
KOENIG: "Who are you?"
KARA: "Our people are called Darians. This was our world, Daria." ((shows picture on wall)) "I am Kara, director of reconstruction on this ship."
KOENIG: "Have you found the rest of my people?"
KARA: "Your friend, Bergman, is resting. We don't know where the others are yet. We'll find them but it may take a bit of time. You must understand, Commander Koenig, that apart from this small area, our ship is a wilderness."
KOENIG: "We picked up your signal."
KARA: "That signal was automatically triggered when all but one of our nuclear reactors exploded. It's been transmitting ever since."
KOENIG: "Ever since when?"
KARA: "Ever since this disaster occurred: nine hundred years ago. Only this part of the ship was shielded. Out of fifty thousand Darians only fourteen of us survived intact."
KOENIG: "Fourteen!"
KARA: "Not all died at once, of course. Thousands survived the explosions. But they were sick, irradiated..."
KOENIG: "And we came here to help."
KARA: "We are far beyond the call for help that brought you here. But your presence here is vital to our survival."
40.INT. SHIP SETTLEMENT AREA
-Over view of settlement area (matte shot)
-Undergrowth area: mute leads Alan & Paul on.
-Settlement area: (sc 41). They are led out of a doorway. The female mute is thrown into a ring of survivors. She turns round, holding her arms out pleadingly. The faces of the survivors are callous. Petros walks up. The female mute looks pleadingly at Hadin. She turns back to Petros. He smiles & touches her face.
PETROS: "Mutant!"
ALL: "Mutant!" ((they all fall on the female mute; Helena & Lowry watch))
-Undergrowth area (sc 40). Paul, Alan & the mute advance.
-Settlement area. The female mute is dragged into a cabinet in a wall. The glass door is closed & Petros places a bar across it. The lights inside the cabinet increase as the mute becomes increasing distressed. The glare obscures her, then fades; the mute is gone. Helena looks appalled. The primitives cheer.
ALL: "Destroy! Destroy!"
-Undergrowth area (sc 40). The cries are heard. The male mute runs back. Alan stops Paul going after him.
ALAN: "No, Paul. Leave him. Leave him. He's done what we asked. He got us here. Come on."
-Settlement area (sc 41). Two burly survivors take Lowry & bring him to Petros.
LOWRY: "Help me, Doctor Russell! Help me!"
Petros smiles benevolently & feels the guard's face. He holds up his left hand. (sc 43:) One finger is missing above a joint.
PETROS: "Mutant!"
ALL: "Mutant!"
Lowry is pushed into the cabinet. As the glare increases he grips his head & tries to scream, but no sound is heard.
HELENA: "No!"
The light absorbs him. (sc 44:)
HELENA (shocked whisper): "No." ((Hadin indicates the 2 guards take her forward)) "No. No."
She is pushed into a circle of survivors & turns round pleadingly. Petros stands before her. (sc 44A:) He feels her face & holds up her hands. He looks gleeful.
PETROS: "Clear! Summon the spirits."
45.INT. CORRIDOR
Kara leads Koenig & Victor out of a room to meet Neman.
NEMAN: "Welcome, I am Neman, commander of this ship."
KOENIG: "Have you found the rest of our people?"
NEMAN: "Unfortunately, no."
VICTOR: "We'd planned to rendezvous back at our ship."
NEMAN: "Well, there's noone there. But it's possible that they are looking for you. Believe me, we are doing our best."
KOENIG: "And not succeeding, damn it!"
NEMAN: "Commander, we are few...and see..."
-Over view of hall, with massive structures either side of a gantry.
NEMAN (VO): "..the ship is large."
KOENIG (VO): "Alright."
-They watch.
KOENIG: "I understand."
NEMAN: "Please, follow me. As Commander of the Alpha base on the Moon, your people abide by your decisions. Has it occurred to you how similar our situations are? This ship, your Moon. Both of us victims of "
-They walk along the gantry (matte/live) (sc 46)
NEMAN: " an unfortunate disaster."
KOENIG: "Yes, we have that in common."
NEMAN: "You know this ship was virtually destroyed."
-Medium shot, studio backing (sc 47)
NEMAN: " You may recall a ship from your own Earth history."
VICTOR: "You mean the Ark?"
NEMAN: "Yes, this ship has a similar function. To preserve the life and skills of our Darian race,"
KARA: "You see, our planet, Daria, no longer exists."
-Long shot (matte/live) (sc 48)
NEMAN: "Is it not true that your own planet, Earth, may also no longer exist?"
KOENIG: "It's possible."
48.INT. CORRIDOR
They reenter an enclosed corridor.
NEMAN: "So your community may be all that is left of Earth civilization?"
KOENIG: "That too is possible."
NEMAN: "But it's a possibility that you dare not ignore?"
VICTOR: "Maybe, but it is also the incentive that spurs our will to survive."
NEMAN: "But will you survive?"
48A.INT. DARIAN COMMAND CENTRE
NEMAN: "You haven't answered me."
KOENIG: "Neman, we try not to anticipate the future. Our concerns are with the present. And for the present, yes, we survive."
NEMAN: "But for how long? Your Moon is lost, at the mercy of all the random forces of deep space. In time your resources will give out, your people start to die. You will all perish."
VICTOR: "Oh, we have some way to go before we get to that point."
NEMAN: "Commander Koenig, we are coming to the end of a thousand year voyage. Our Main Drive is undamaged. The ship is programmed to reach our destination, a virgin planet where the Darian civilization can begin again. Don't you understand? We are offering your people a guarantee of survival. Join us. Share in the future of the new world that awaits our arrival. I know you are concerned for the rest of your party. I will personally supervise the search. But in the meantime: please, consider our offer."
49.INT. SHIP SETTLEMENT AREA
Undergrowth area: Alan & Paul pursue the sounds of the village.
Settlement. Hadin gives Petros a book. Petros nods & Hadin goes to a door. Helena emerges, now dressed in a survivor costume. She is brought to Petros, before a fire.
PETROS: "Here, in the Sacred Shrine of Knowledge, we dedicate this perfect body. We pledge her in the spirit of true science. We pledge her in the light of clear knowledge and maintain that she is free of the mutant whom we abhor in all his manifestations." ((he holds up the book to a painting)) "This we pledge on the Sacred Book of Neman, maker of man, father of spirits. To you, Neman, we, the survivors of level seven, offer this body."
FADE OUT
EXT. SPACE (SFX)
Daria.
50.INT. REST ROOM
VICTOR: "So that's it. We throw in our lot with them and they let us share their new world."
KOENIG: "Victor, it'll take the Darians another hundred years to reach that planet. A hundred years. It's a very long time. We certainly won't be around to see it."
VICTOR: "No. But, ah, we could open up this ship. Start families. Prepare our people for the future. Very tempting, John. After all, we can't go on as we are indefinitely."
KOENIG: "It means abandoning Alpha, pooling our resources. And the question is, are we compatible? Can we complete the voyage with the Darians? Alright, let's test it." ((they leave))
51.INT. SHIP SETTLEMENT AREA
The painting of Neman parts to reveal two suited Darians. Petros bows to them; they enter slowly.
Alan & Paul watch.
Helena whimpers & backs.
HELENA: "No...please...no..."
Alan & Paul prepare their lasers.
PAUL: "On stun, you might hit her."
Alan rushes out, through the line of survivors, & holds his laser to the Darians.
ALAN: "Let her go!"
HELENA: "They killed Lowry!" ((Hadin comes up behind him)) "Alan, look out!"
Paul rushes out & kicks Hadin away. Paul & Alan struggle with the survivors. Paul's laser fires & one 'spirit' is hit & falls. Alan & Paul then kick the two survivors back, Paul finishing off his adversary with a punch. But Alan is then kicked by Hadin, who hides in a door. Paul goes to help him, but hears Helena.
HELENA (being dragged by other spirit): "Paul! Help me!"
He runs after her through the closing door, leaping through the last gap & landing as it closes behind him. The survivors run up to the door & beat on it.
53.INT. DARIAN COMMAND CENTRE
A Darian girl hands Victor sheets of computer stationery one by one.
VICTOR: "Ah huh. Yess. Thank you."
She leaves. Victor takes the sheets to Koenig at a desk.
KOENIG: "I think I've located the airlock mechanism. We should be able to fix it for controlled entry and exit."
VICTOR (abstractly): "Yeah, good."
KOENIG: "What's the matter?"
VICTOR: "Ah, I'm not sure. We've established that the Darians are a human as we are. Their food requirements are similar to ours. Ah, these are the components we use to provide our food on Alpha. They're processed and recycled of course to make them palatable. These are the Darian requirements. You see, different system, but, ah, same requirements. But, now, look at their components."
KOENIG: "No basic proteins, no amino acids.. no trace elements, no enzyme variants. The Darians can't support life on these."
VICTOR: "Well, the Darian computer supplied the list and I checked it. There's no mistake. There are no reserves of those elements anywhere on this ship."
KOENIG: "Have you checked the recycling plant itself?"
VICTOR: "Oh yes. All of those essential elements are present and being constantly renewed."
KOENIG: "If the Darians have no reserves on this ship..."
VICTOR: "Oh, just a minute. I said there were no reserves of those elements anywhere on this ship. That's not strictly correct. There is one source where they could find those elements. A human source."
KOENIG: "Bodies?"
VICTOR: "That's it, John. Living human bodies."
54.INT. SHIP SETTLEMENT AREA
Alan groans & wakes, to find himself in the arms of 3 survivors. Hadin punches him in the stomach.
PETROS: "Defiler of truth! Killer of spirit! Enemy of Neman!"
55.INT. CORRIDOR
Paul looks along corridor in the other direction.
POV: stretching to infinity.
Paul carries on the other way.
He runs on.
56.INT. REST ROOM
KOENIG: "Is it true?"
KARA: "Does it matter where we get those elements from?"
KOENIG: "It matters."
KARA: "We would have told you."
KOENIG: "A civilized people. Why?"
KARA: "To live!"
KOENIG: "Doesn't it also matter how you live?"
KARA: "Our experience on this ship has taught us the truth. The only truth! Survival!"
KOENIG: "Look, you can't justify using the living bodies of your own people to survive."
KARA: "No, no, not our own people. How could we? There are only fourteen true Darians on this ship. The others.."
KOENIG: "Others? What others?"
KARA: "They exist. Out there in the radioactive wilderness. The descendants of the original survivors, they were left to die. It was twenty years before we knew they'd survived. Oh, you can't comprehend what we found. A million years of civilization wiped clean in one generation. And what was left were degenerate creatures, savage, mutant, cannibal."
KOENIG: "Why didn't you help them?"
KARA: "We couldn't reveal our presence. They would have overwhelmed us. But we tried to help them survive. We taught them the rudiments of science. We gave them a god to believe in."
KOENIG: "You gave them a god!"
KARA: "A god who taught them to preserve only the fittest. The weak, sick, the mutants were..."
KOENIG: "Were used for human fodder in your recycling plants!"
KARA: "It only became necessary after our own resources ran out. Don't you see? There were only fourteen of us. We had to survive."
KOENIG: "You Darians fancy yourselves very highly."
KARA: "Ha! Do you think we did it so that Neman and I and the other Darians could live?"
KOENIG: "Well, didn't you?"
KARA: "No. There is a greater survival. Come. I'll show you what it is."
57.INT. SHIP SETTLEMENT AREA
Petros moans a dirge. The spirit, lying on an altar, gives a groan.
PETROS: "Spirit of Science, forgive us! Spirit of Knowledge, protect us! Spirit of Neman, preserve us!"
All bow to the spirit. Alan runs from his guards, knocks out Petros as he bows, & grabs the spirit's weapon, holding it to him.
ALAN: "Don't try it." ((addresses them all)) "Spirit? This is no spirit. Look! They have deceived you!" ((pulls off his helmet)) "He's a man! He's a man like you! He's a man like me! Right, tell them. Tell them so help me or I'll throw you to them."
DARIAN: "No...no...please."
ALAN: "Tell them!"
DARIAN: "It is true."
ALAN: "Louder!"
DARIAN: "It is true. I am no spirit." ((Survivors gasp)) "Let me go."
ALAN: "Right, now you know where the rest of my people are?"
DARIAN: "Yes...yes."
ALAN: "You'll take us to them?" ((he nods)) "Right. Now, he will take us to the place of the false spirits. Who will follow?" ((they retreat)) "Who of you will follow?"
Hadin steps forward.
58.INT. DARIAN COMMAND CENTRE
NEMAN: "Our mission is to survive this voyage. Not for ourselves, but for this...a gene bank. It contains the undamaged genetic material of our race."
KOENIG: "A double helix. The same basic genetic material of our species."
NEMAN: "Then you will realise how important it is to us. We managed to preserve it before radiation irreparably damaged our people. With it we can build up our race again. Pure, healthy Darians."
KARA: "That is why we need you, John Koenig. You have the resources that we need to complete our voyage and save our race."
KOENIG: "You seem to have done very well without us."
NEMAN: "Not for much longer. The mutant survivors are dying. Faster than they can replace themselves. Once they die, all life on this ship perishes. And with it a million years of civilization. Join us, John Koenig. Put an end to this terrible thing we've had to do. It will guarantee our survival and your future."
KOENIG: "We do nothing until we find the rest of my people."
FADE OUT
59.EXT. GANTRY
Paul passes a door, then returns to it & walks through onto the gantry.
He runs across the gantry between the massive structures (matte/live, sc 59A)
60.INT. CORRIDOR
Alan prompts the reluctant Darian along. Hadin & the survivors follow them.
61.INT. CORRIDOR COMPLEX
Paul crosses a chamber.
Paul enters a corridor & sees a Darian. (sc 62A) The Darian runs & Paul shoots him. Paul runs past. Koenig & Victor emerge from the door the Darian fell by.
KOENIG: "Paul!"
PAUL: "Commander! Professor!"
KOENIG: "Where are the others?"
PAUL: "They've got Helena. She's around here somewhere."
KOENIG: "Lowry?"
PAUL: "Lowry's dead."
KOENIG: "Carter?"
PAUL: "I don't know. We got separated back there. Now Helena has to be this way."
63.EXT. GANTRY
-The survivors reach the gantry.
-POV of gantry & structures.
-The survivors back.
ALAN: "Hey! You want to run away now you know the truth? Well come on." ((to Darian)) "Move it."
-The survivors, led by Alan & the Darian, cross the gantry (matte/live)
66.INT. DARIAN COMMAND CENTRE
The three Alphans enter. Koenig & Victor move behind Kara to shield her from the other Darians in the room. Paul steps in front of her, startling her.
KARA: "What is this?"
KOENIG: "Now you listen to me. We happen to know what you've been doing to those people out there. Exploiting them, using them. That's your problem and theirs. You Darians have one of our people, a woman. I want you to take us to her, or we'll tear this place apart."
They escort her out of the room.
67.INT. CORRIDOR COMPLEX
Alan leads the survivors into a chamber of the Darian section.
68.INT. TRANSPLANT ROOM
Kara leads the Alphans in. Pan from right, -rows of naked bodies laying face down on a bench-, to the left, -2 Darians stripping a survivor woman on a mortuary table & carrying her to the right. They move to the next survivor body on the left: Helena. Koenig rushes forward & throws them off.
KOENIG: "Now look, what the hell have you done to her?" ((he pulls his hand up to chop Kara's neck))
KARA: "Wait!" ((she gets a band & places it on Helena's forehead. It buzzes)) "She's reviving. She has not been harmed. She'll be alright in about twelve hours."
KOENIG: "Now, what's going on here?"
VICTOR: "Transplant surgery."
KARA: "Ever since the catastrophe we Darians have had to prolong life by artificial means." ((she then runs out))
KOENIG: "You two stay here!" ((he runs out))
68.INT. CORRIDOR
Koenig catches her & holds her against the wall.
KOENIG: "So that's how you Darians prolong life. Is there nothing you won't do in the sacred name of survival?"
KARA: "We can't reproduce ourselves. What else could we do?"
KOENIG: "That's the future you had in mind for us, wasn't it? To keep you Darians alive. Was it? Was it?"
NEMAN: "Yes."
Koenig turns to see Neman with an armed Darian.
Alan & the survivors walk round a corner & startle a Darian. He runs off & they chase him. (sc 69)
(sc 71; Resume sc 69)
NEMAN: "Think of it, all of you. Unlimited life. When the voyage ends, you will still be alive and your future assured."
KOENIG: "That is not our way, Neman. We prefer to take our chances in space."
NEMAN: "Do you think we wanted this? Now, you must believe me. Once our race has been established on the new planet, we, Kara, the rest of the Darians will gladly die."
DARIAN (bursting up): "Neman, the survivors have broken in!"
They run off.
72.INT. DARIAN COMMAND CENTRE
The survivors are in control, the Darians beaten. Hadin throws a Darian away as they enter. He goes to the gene bank. Neman bursts in & is grabbed by Alan, who holds the weapon to him. Koenig arrives.
NEMAN: "Hadin. No." ((he runs to Hadin; Hadin catches him)) "No!"
HADIN: "Neman, you are not a god!"
Hadin throws him through the gene bank. Kara & Koenig run up. Hadin takes Kara.
KOENIG: "Now stop it, stop it! Listen to me! The only chance you have is to help each other and live together."
KARA: "The gene bank is destroyed. A million years of civilization gone. What future do we have now?"
KOENIG: "What future do you have now?" ((takes Hadin & a woman survivor)) "These people are your future now. Prepare them to survive in space. We'll help you. The rest is up to you."
Hadin walks past Kara. She turns round to him & he looks at her.
FADE OUT
74.EXT. SPACE (SFX)
Eagle leaves Daria for Moon.
75.INT. EAGLE PASSENGER SECTION
Helena, Paul & Victor sit. They are conscious of the empty seat: Lowry's humming is heard. Victor puts his hand on Helena's shoulder.
VICTOR: "I know."
76.INT. EAGLE PILOT SECTION
DAVID (on screen): "Nice to see your face again, Eagle One. What happened?"
ALAN: "Remind me to tell you sometime." ((cuts link)) "If the same thing happened on Alpha would you have chosen differently?"
Beat.
KOENIG: "Remind me to tell you sometime." ((they smile))
