Pan down to surface in foreground.
1. INT. CAVES
POV walk through caves, passing flashing 'AIR PRESSURE NORMAL' signs. Glance at colourful geology map in hands.
Osgood, wearing yellow jumpsuit, reaches 2 miners, one in green jumpsuit, the other in orange.
OSGOOD: "I want one last series of deep charges placed here, here and here. I know we'll find it this time."
GREEN: "More charges? That's a bit risky, chief."
OSGOOD: "Our job is to find tiranium in these catacombs."
GREEN: "It'll weaken the roof. It's a treacherous rock formation..!"
OSGOOD: "Well, so are they all!"
ORANGE: "Chief. We've already packed in enough explosives to hollow out the Moon."
OSGOOD: "Then our job should be done."
GREEN: "We don't share your enthusiasm for dangerous short cuts."
OSGOOD: "You lack faith in my judgement? Alright, I'll set the charges myself." ((picks up bag))
GREEN: "Look, chief, you're the expert-"
OSGOOD: "When I want your advice don't I ask for it?"
GREEN: "Then I've said nothing."
Osgood leaves, carrying the bag of charges.
ORANGE: "He's not himself anymore."
GREEN: "Yeah, well, if your wife was dying, I guess you wouldn't be yourself either."
2. INT. CAVES (SFX)
Explosion.

Vision: a ring of flames surround bed. Michelle sleeps in bed. Osgood calls to her from outside the ring. She calls from the bed to him.

HELENA (VO): "Moonbase Alpha Status Report."
11. EXT. MOON SURFACE (SFX)
Moonbuggy is driven by 2 astronauts ((from "The Taybor"))
HELENA (VO): "Eleven hundred and ninety six days since leaving Earth's orbit."
INT. RESEARCH UNIT
2 silver-suited technicians inject an Exiles cylinder with dry ice.
HELENA (VO): "Doctor Helena Russell recording."
11. INT. MEDICAL
Michelle asleep in bed.
HELENA (VO): "In Medical Centre, Michelle Osgood, a very special patient with a very special problem. She needs a new heart or she will die."
13. INT. CAVES
Osgood lies against the rocks, silently calling for 'Michelle'.
HELENA (VO): "And in the catacombs, our search for tiranium, a scarce metal not only essential for certain medical uses, but also a vital component of our life support systems, continues to have top priority. The Chief Engineer in charge is Patrick Osgood, husband of the dying patient, a man who has recurrent visions of Alpha being destroyed by a raging fire."
The 2 miners run up to Osgood. They help him sit up.
OSGOOD: "How long has it been?"
GREEN: "Just a few minutes."
OSGOOD: "Tiranium?" ((Green scans walls))
GREEN: "Not yet."
OSGOOD: "And not ever." ((determinedly he rises & strides off))
INT. TRAVEL TUBE (SFX)
Unit speeds on.
Unit speeds on.
Unit slows.
14. INT. CORRIDOR
Osgood leaves Travel Unit & strides along corridor to Medical. Titles over.
15. INT. MEDICAL
Helena checks instruments. Titles over.
MICHELLE: "Anything?"
HELENA: "Soon, Michelle. We're testing a new heart for you."
MICHELLE: "Doctor Russell. It's so.. boring to die slowly."
HELENA: "There's hope, Michelle. There's always hope."
MICHELLE (smiles): "I do believe you."
OSGOOD (pushes past nurse): "I'll see my wife now, if you please."
MICHELLE: "Patrick?"
OSGOOD: "Doctor, I want to be alone with my wife. There is no need for that, it's a scratch."
MICHELLE: "Patrick, you're hurt." ((Helena leaves)) "What happened?"
OSGOOD: "A revelation. I've seen the future for us all."
MICHELLE: "Patrick."
OSGOOD: "A storm of fire will destroy Alpha."
MICHELLE: "No..." ((Meanwhile, Helena watches))
OSGOOD: "Only we can be saved. If you have the will. If you have the faith to live I can save you. But you have to have faith."
MICHELLE: "Patrick." ((they hug))
EXT. SPACE (SFX)
Firestorm.
Warp effect.
17. EXT. LAUNCH PAD (SFX)
Eagle launches.
HELENA (VO): "Moonbase Alpha Status Report. Supplemental. Waves of unbearable heat have suddenly begun to beat against Alpha. Our sensors are unable to pinpoint their source. Commander Koenig "
INT. EAGLE PILOT SECTION
Koenig & copilot.
HELENA (VO): " has lifted off in Eagle One to investigate."
18. EXT. SPACE (SFX)
Eagle in flight.
HELENA (VO): "The incredible coincidence is that Chief Engineer Osgood predicted this occurrence."
16. INT. COMMAND CENTRE
A desk screen displays 'Degrees Centigrade 39': it changes to 40.
SANDRA: "Surface temperature now forty degrees centigrade and rising rapidly."
TONY: "Why, that's uncanny. A twenty degree rise in temperature in twenty minutes."
SANDRA: "And still rising."
TONY: "Well, can't you pinpoint the source?"
SANDRA: "It's out there somewhere, that's about as specific as we can get. All computer printouts show is that-"
TONY: "I don't need a computer printout to tell me it's hot and it's getting hotter. Look, we need specifics. I need to know why and where that heat is coming from."
SANDRA: "That is why the Commander is out in space, Tony, trying to get visual contact with the source."
TONY: "Yeah. I'm sorry. Where's Maya?"
SANDRA: "She's in life support, trying to squeeze power out of the air conditioning system."
TONY (taking his jacket off): "Okay, well, let's try to relax. I suggest all the fellers and especially the ladies try to cool off."
19. INT. MEDICAL EXPERIMENTAL
Helena hands Ben a unit which he mounts & places a glass cover over it.
BEN: "Impossible to solve. Why won't you accept it?"
HELENA: "Because the solution has got to be simple applied science. This is a schematic of the artificial heart perfected by Dorfman in nineteen eighty seven." ((puts drawing on light screen))
BEN: "Too bad we don't have one."
HELENA: "This is our version. Michelle's new heart."
BEN: "You mean new heart number ten, huh?"
HELENA: "We've used Dorfman's exact specifications. It's got to work this time."
BEN: "Not without tiranium to coat the valves."
HELENA: "This time...pray."
BEN: "Yeah. We've tried everything else. Do you want the bloodflow test first or shall we build up our hopes?"
HELENA: "Look, being cynical won't solve anything."
BEN: "Well, it helps keep the mind clear of personal emotions."
HELENA: "Alright, let's do our final check." ((Osgood enters)) "We're ready to test."
OSGOOD: "Then I've come at the right time to witness your success."
HELENA: "Patrick, we are trying."
OSGOOD: "And you keep failing."
HELENA: "Look, we think we've solved the friction problem by relieving the initial pressure."
OSGOOD: "You continue to solve every problem, except the basic one."
HELENA: "I wish you had more faith in me."
OSGOOD: "Oh, I have a different faith than yours. A more certain knowledge of what is to be and what is not to be." ((walks into background, looking at instruments))
BEN: "Must we have him here?"
HELENA: "Well, at least we know where he is and what he's up to. Alright. Let's make it work this time."
Ben plugs in leads & presses the 'Valve Control' switches. The meter needle swings as the unit flashes & bleeps. It builds pace, then explodes.
OSGOOD: "Blasphemy. You scientists think you can give the gift of life."
HELENA: "We're Michelle's only hope!"
OSGOOD: "Your Medical science, your advanced quackery, is no substitute for the true faith; only faith can outface death." ((he leaves; she sits at a desk))
BEN: "We should put him under restraint."
HELENA: "Why?"
BEN: "Would you say he was slightly off balance, doctor?"
HELENA: "When he was having visions about Alpha being destroyed by fire, yes. Now we seem to be in the middle of a heat wave, I don't know, doctor."
BEN: "What now?"
HELENA: "Try again."
BEN: "Again?"
HELENA: "Again. And again."
EXT. SPACE (SFX)
Firestorm. Fade into..
20. INT. MEDICAL
Osgood looks at the sleeping Michelle. Voice overs.
MICHELLE (VO): "I wish you would accept death as I do."
OSGOOD (VO): "No, Michelle, the spirit lives forever."
MICHELLE (VO): "Think in the past, Patrick. Come there with me. It's easier when you do."
OSGOOD (VO): "Where is your faith, Michelle?"
MICHELLE (VO): "My faith is in our love. We've lived such a beautiful intense life together. So lucky. Now we must let it go."
OSGOOD (aloud): "Rise up, Michelle. Rise up."
NURSE: "Sir. Please go now. She can't hear you when she's under sedation. For your sake if not for hers."
Osgood sits; she stirs; he kisses her.
OSGOOD (VO): "I have a plan to save you."
21. EXT. SPACE (SFX)
Eagle.
22. INT. EAGLE PILOT SECTION
KOENIG: "Any new facts? New readings? New anything, Sahn?"
SANDRA (on screen): "Nothing, sir. The temperature just keeps rising."
KOENIG: "How about tempers?"
23. INT. COMMAND CENTRE
SANDRA: "No tantrums yet. Have you found out anything?"
KOENIG (on screen): "No, nothing."
TONY: "John. If the situation goes critical and you haven't returned yet..I suggest we evacuate all nonessential personnel from the surface and get them down below."
KOENIG (on screen): "You're in command in my absence, Tony."
TONY: "Check."
HELENA: "John. I've got a life and death medical problem here."
24. INT. EAGLE PILOT SECTION
KOENIG: "Yes, Helena."
HELENA (on screen): "Michelle Osgood. I've tried everything else. Nothing works. Unless you release some tiranium."
KOENIG: "We've no tiranium to spare."
25. INT. COMMAND CENTRE
HELENA: "Just a few grains."
KOENIG (on screen): "We have a total emergency on our hands. At this moment tiranium is irreplaceable."
HELENA: "So is Michelle Osgood's life."
26. INT. EAGLE PILOT SECTION
KOENIG: "Helena, in normal conditions I'd take the risk."
HELENA (on screen): "But-"
KOENIG: "I'm sorry. But it's one life against hundreds. And I can't jeopardise all of Alpha. You - you'll find another way."
HELENA (on screen): "I'm glad you have such tremendous faith in me."
KOENIG: "I wish you luck, Helena. Eagle One out."
INT. COMMAND CENTRE
Stunned reactions.
INT. EAGLE PILOT SECTION
Koenig looks at his copilot.
EXT. SPACE (SFX)
Eagle heads into space.
29. INT. EXPLOSIVES STOREROOM
Tony & 2 guards enter with a trolley. The temperature sign reads 45.
TONY: "Extreme heat can set off the explosives on this level, so let's move them down to level D fast. Alright, load up that trolley. Breathe easy, walk lightly." ((inset: temperature meter on 45)) "And handle that stuff very carefully. How are we? Under control?"
GUARD: "Well. Don't anyone sneeze too loud."
TONY: "That's what I like about you. You always give me such a great sense of security."
OSGOOD: "I want a word with you, Tony."
TONY: "Yeah, sure, Pat, but don't make waves in here, things are a little touch and go right now. Come on, let's talk privately."
OSGOOD: "No, right here."
TONY: "Pat. I'm sorry about Michelle. I-I wish we could have found tiranium in those catacombs."
OSGOOD: "Yeah, but we didn't, did we?"
TONY: "Don't give up hope. Helena is doing everything that is medically possible."
OSGOOD: "Don't apologise for her scientific failures. I have good news. There will be salvation for my wife."
TONY (cautiously): "How?"
OSGOOD: "I am her salvation."
TONY: "Pat. Is that what you came storming in here just now to tell me?"
OSGOOD: "Hey, listen to me. I have supreme knowledge. Only faith can give life. Only faith can triumph over death."
TONY: "Only faith, huh?"
OSGOOD: "You go ahead, you mock me, Tony. You haven't the power of faith."
TONY: "Mock you? Oh come on, Pat, you remember me? I was best man at your wedding. Now if I didn't have faith-"
OSGOOD: "Just possibly you may live long enough to see the proof of Michelle cured. Again, you may not live."
TONY: "Oh, come on, Pat, what you're saying-"
OSGOOD: "But if you stay here on Alpha you most certainly will die with the rest. I congratulate you at least in not fleeing in the face of the coming catastrophe."
TONY: "Fleeing?"
OSGOOD: "Running away, like the Commander has."
TONY: "Pat. I know what you're going through over Michelle. And I know how much it hurts. It hurts me just to watch it happening to you. But believe me, nobody is running away from anything, least of all the Commander."
OSGOOD: "He might have remembered the example of Noah's Ark and taken aboard all those who want-"
TONY: "Patrick old buddy. The Commander has gone on a long range reconnaissance to try to find out what's causing these high temperatures on Alpha."
OSGOOD: "Well, I have the answer. I have seen the holocaust. I have seen Alpha in flames."
TONY: "I know. You predicted this."
OSGOOD: "I had a true vision."
TONY: "There are all kinds of visions, Pat. Come on, why don't you talk to Helena?"
OSGOOD: "You were my friend, Tony."
TONY: "A correction. I am your friend."
OSGOOD: "You think I'm strange because I see the future. Because I say Alpha will be destroyed. Well, not Michelle. I'm taking her with me."
TONY: "Alright, alright. Let's talk about it."
OSGOOD: "There is no talk, there's only visions."
TONY: "Alright, let's talk about visions then. Come on, I'll go with you to Helena."
Tony puts his arm round Osgood, but is elbowed in the stomach. Osgood grabs Tony's laser & punches him back. The older guard approaches & is hit back. Tony jumps against Osgood, pushing him against the wall & forcing the laser upwards. Maya is passing & sees the struggle. She becomes an alsatian dog & bites Osgood's arm: he drops the laser. The dog leaves Osgood & Tony goes to him:
TONY: "Pat!"
But he is hit back again. Osgood runs off, & Tony hits the alarm button.
FADE OUT
31. INT. CORRIDOR
Tony walks along from Reception to Medical. He passes guards & addresses a black guard by Medical.
TONY: "If he shows, hold him. But no unnecessary force."
He walks on to Medical.
Two Alphans wheel a trolley past the Explosives Storeroom.
33. INT. EXPLOSIVES STOREROOM
Osgood zips up his shoulder painfully. The first guard enters & walks through an arch. Osgood leaves through the open door.
34. INT. CORRIDOR
Osgood heads into Reception, then hides as 2 Alphans walk to the Travel Unit. He walks into the corridor.
32. INT. MEDICAL
Tony enters.
TONY: "Michelle."
MICHELLE: "Where is he, Tony? Is something wrong, is that why you're here?"
TONY: "The last time I saw him, he was fine."
MICHELLE: "They're saying he's become dangerous."
TONY: "Oh, you know Patrick. He's a regular bull in a China shop. He married you, didn't he? Swept you right off your feet. If he hadn't, I would have."
MICHELLE: "Patrick said terrible things were going to happen to Alpha."
HELENA: "Well, we'll see that they don't. Trust us. The important thing now is getting you well."
MICHELLE: "I just keep worrying about him."
TONY: "Stop worrying, will you. The moment he knows you're fine, he'll be fine. That's a promise."
HELENA: "Right. Now come on, it's time for you to rest, Michelle. Okay? Hmm?"
They walk a distance away.
TONY: "How's it coming?"
HELENA: "We're trying number eleven."
TONY: "I thought that was impossible without tiranium."
HELENA: "We're trying an alloy that Dorfman used in his experiments before he perfected the tiranium wall."
TONY: "You mean it worked for him?"
HELENA: "Sometimes. For short durations."
TONY: "Good luck. Especially for her."
HELENA: "Best luck for her would be if someone finds some tiranium."
TONY: "Yep. Helena, we had a scramble with Osgood in the A level explosives room. Well, he was on the boil, hungry for a fight, hitting everything. Now he may be on his way down here. Okay. Wait a minute. What was he doing in the explosives room?" ((takes his comlock))
SECURITY (VO): "Yes, Security."
TONY: "The explosives rooms in B, C and D levels are off limits to all unauthorised personnel. Especially Patrick Osgood."
36. INT. CORRIDOR
A blonde & brunette, both in revealing swim wear, walk.
BRUNETTE: "I just love this heat wave. How can we ever go back to wearing regulation uniforms again?"
BLONDE: "Nobody will give us a second look."
37. INT. LIVING QUARTERS
The girls enter a bedroom & see Osgood asleep on the bed. They walk up & press the alarm button by the bed.
INT. COMMAND CENTRE
Tony now wears a vest.
TONY: "Area three living quarters. Get Security onto it."
SANDRA: "Security. Area three, living quarters." ((Tony leaves))
INT. LIVING QUARTERS
Tony enters, followed by a guard, & goes to the girls to see Osgood.
TONY: "Get a stretcher."
42. INT. CORRIDOR
Osgood is wheeled on a stretcher. He stares at the ceiling: vignetted, his wife smiling at him.
43. EXT. MOON SURFACE
Vision: Osgood runs on the spot, his arm out to Michelle. She wakes & stretches out to him from bed. At last she falls back.
45. INT. MEDICAL EXPERIMENTAL
HELENA: "Alright. Like they used to say in old time show business. One more time."
The unit is mounted. It's bleeps increase in frequency. It explodes.
BEN: "Yeah. It's like they used to say in old time hospital wards. The operation was a success but we lost the patient."
HELENA: "Yes, this time. No workable heart, no operation."
BEN: "Well, we've tried everything."
HELENA: "Except tiranium."
BEN: "What do we do now?"
HELENA: "I don't know. One thing I don't want to do right now is face Michelle. Not right now."
Tony enters.
TONY: "Helena. We've got Osgood. Emergency Reception."
They go.
46. INT. MEDICAL
Helena, Tony & Ben enter & go to Osgood on the stretcher.
TONY: "How is he?"
HELENA: "He's lost a lot of blood. Surgical table."
OSGOOD: "When the fire comes, you flee to the catacombs."
HELENA: "Just lie back, there's no fire." ((Ben hands her scissors))
OSGOOD: "You will be safe in the catacombs, I know."
TONY: "Another vision, Pat?"
OSGOOD: "Oh, you must believe me. Doctor Russell."
HELENA: "Antiseptic."
OSGOOD: "Doctor Russell. If you look closely you'll find I've wired myself as a human explosive."
TONY: "Listen, Pat, this is no time for games."
OSGOOD: "Come closer, Tony. See what happens."
HELENA: "May I examine you?"
OSGOOD: "Carefully."
She undoes his belt & lifts his tunic to reveal a belt of pads.
HELENA: "Look, Patrick. You've lost a lot of blood. It may require surgery."
OSGOOD: "No. Bandage my arm. And then you'll take me to my wife. She's waiting."
TONY: "Pat, you can't."
OSGOOD: "Easy, Tony old buddy. Any sudden move, I could lose my grip on this firing pin."
HELENA: "Tony, please."
TONY: "It's wrong what you're doing, Pat. All wrong."
HELENA: "Alright, help me bandage his arm."
48. EXT. SPACE (SFX)
Eagle approaches a blue haze.
49. INT. EAGLE PILOT SECTION
BILL: "Hey, what a cloud."
KOENIG: "There's no need to state the obvious."
50. EXT. SPACE (SFX)
-Cloud.
BILL (VO): "Where did it come from?"
KOENIG (VO): "Maybe it was formed by whatever's causing the heat."
-Eagle
-Cloud
KOENIG (VO): "Well, we sure can't tell from this side."
49. INT. EAGLE PILOT SECTION
BILL: "Yeah, but what I want to know is what's on the other side."
51. EXT. SPACE (SFX)
-Cloud billowing.
INT. EAGLE PILOT SECTION
51. EXT. SPACE (SFX)
-Eagle enters mist
47. INT. MEDICAL
HELENA: "Patrick, listen to me, as a doctor, please, don't do this."
OSGOOD: "Michelle is mine to do with, not yours."
HELENA: "She's not yours to kill."
OSGOOD: "I can save her."
HELENA: "The only thing that can save her is a new heart."
OSGOOD: "How many have you tried already, huh?"
HELENA: "None with tiranium; look, I promise you I'll get tiranium for the next one. If John were here he'd release it, wouldn't he? He would not risk Michelle being killed!"
OSGOOD: "I'd blow myself up before I would hurt her."
HELENA: "She had a chance here. You both have. Please don't take her."
OSGOOD: "I am her only chance. You couldn't save her with all your medical faith, even if you had tiranium, but my faith can. Come, Michelle."
HELENA: "She's sedated. She can't hear you."
Michelle opens her eyes.
MICHELLE: "Patrick." ((Osgood looks at Helena triumphantly))
OSGOOD: "You're coming with me."
MICHELLE: "Yes." ((she sits up))
OSGOOD: "It's alright. We're going a long way but we'll be together."
MICHELLE: "I love you."
OSGOOD: "I told you. She's mine."
He holds her up, holding the explosives trigger before him. They pass Tony & Helena.
FADE OUT
EXT. MOONBASE ALPHA (SFX)
INT. CORRIDOR
Guards with laser rifles search alternate doors.
TONY (VO on PA system): "Approach with extreme caution. He is wired with explosives. Repeat. Approach with extreme caution. And if spotted, don't crowd him, stay clear and report his position. Repeat. Do nothing, just report his position."
INT. CAVES
Seen only in dark, Tony (blue jacket) leads 2 guards through caves.
EXT. SPACE (SFX)
Cloud.
INT. EAGLE PILOT SECTION
BILL: "External heat rising."
EXT. SPACE (SFX)
Cloud glows yellow.
INT. EAGLE PILOT SECTION
KOENIG: "Glare shield!"
Off screen shield lowers, cutting glare.
EXT. SPACE (SFX)
Small Eagle leaves the yellow cloud.

KOENIG: "There's our heat wave, Bill."

Firestorm.
Eagle heads to firestorm.

KOENIG: "Computerise it's course." ((Bill types))
BILL: "Collision course Alpha. And Commander. It's enormous."
KOENIG: "Speed."
BILL: "Faster than our maximum speed."

BILL (on screen): "And how about a nice tall cool drink waiting for us, Alpha? And Tony. Even settle for a beer."
HELENA: "John, listen to me."
KOENIG (on screen): "Helena, I know what I'm-" ((static over screen))
TONY: "We've lost him."
GUARD 1 (on screen): "Tony. We've found Michelle's nameplate. They're here, in the catacombs. Somewhere."
TONY: "Alright. Put Alpha on emergency status. Full alert. Fire fighters. Extra crew to explosives and munitions building. Helena. Casualty stations." ((goes to man in multicoloured vest)) "Peter. All nonessential machinery and equipment shutdown right now, and I mean shutdown."
HELENA: "What about Michelle Osgood?"
TONY: "I'm going down the catacombs after them."
HELENA: "Tony. John may have been about to release some tiranium."
TONY: "He was cut off, Helena. We don't know what he was going to say."
HELENA: "Then a determination has to be made. You're in command now."
TONY: "Yeah. Well, we may all go up in smoke anyway. Take what you need."
53. EXT. SPACE (SFX)
Eagle, illuminated by fire as it turns.
Firestorm.
INT. EAGLE PILOT SECTION
KOENIG: "We've got a head start. Let's see if we can outrun it."
53. EXT. SPACE (SFX)
Eagle.

-Michelle stumbles as she is helped along.
MICHELLE: "Patrick." ((she stumbles))
OSGOOD: "Hold on to me."
MICHELLE: "So tired."
OSGOOD: "We'll rest here." ((they sit down)) "Please don't be afraid."
MICHELLE: "I'm not afraid when I'm with you. I know you love me."
OSGOOD: "Yes, always." ((he drops his belt))
MICHELLE: "Wasn't there any hope for me in hospital?"
OSGOOD: "None at all."
MICHELLE: "Doctor Russell tried so very hard."
OSGOOD: "She failed utterly."
MICHELLE: "You know best, Patrick."
They hear footsteps.
OSGOOD: "You're able to walk now?"
MICHELLE: "Not yet."
Tony & the guards patrol. Tony shushs & plays his light on the cave wall.
Osgood & Michelle.
OSGOOD: "I'm sorry my darling, we must go on."
MICHELLE: "I'll try." ((he helps her up))
Tony & the guards walk on. Tony plays his torch on the wall again before continuing.
The Osgoods walk on
Tony & guards.
Osgoods.
MICHELLE (weakly): "Patrick. Strength."
OSGOOD: "We're nearly safe now, where the fire won't find us."
MICHELLE: "It's too hard, I must stop."
OSGOOD: "Try to go on." ((she falls)) "Michelle!" ((he sits her up)) "Can you hear me, Michelle?"
MICHELLE: "I'm not afraid to die."
OSGOOD: "You'll never die. I'll not let you go."

Firestorm.

OSGOOD: "Be conquered by my faith. You weren't born to die. You are being and breath. What you are can never be destroyed."

Vision: Osgood stands beyond ring of fire around bed. Michelle gets out of the bed. Osgood walks through the fire to her & they embrace, Michelle mouthing 'Patrick'.

BEN: "Doctor. Why don't you take a break?"
HELENA: "When I know the patient's going to live, that's when, Ben." ((Ben puts the glass cover over the unit)) "Checklist." ((he gives her it)) "Alright. Cystolic intervals check."
BEN: "Yeah."

The heart starts to bleep.
BEN: "Come on, tiranium, hang on in there."
HELENA: "That wall's got to hold."
BEN: "Well. The job's half done."

Tony answers comlock.
TONY: "Yes, Helena."

HELENA: "Tony, it's working."

SANDRA: "Heavy damage to all surface installations, Commander. Some casualties, but we are functioning."

KOENIG: "Can you clear a landing area?"

SANDRA: "Top priority, Commander."
EXT. SPACE (SFX)
Eagle leaves firestorm, casting 2 rays above & below it.

Tony & guards hear explosions
GUARD 1: "More surface explosions?"
TONY: "Yeah. Osgood prophecy. Just as well we're following a prophet."
GUARD 1: "Unless he explodes."
Osgoods carry on
Tony & guards
GUARD 1: "Listen."
The light illuminates the Osgoods.
TONY: "Pat. It's me, Tony. Listen. The new heart, it's working." ((Osgood throws a rock at him)) "Wait, Pat, listen."
The ceiling collapses between them.
Osgood coaxes his wife on.
OSGOOD: "It's alright, darling. Come on."
Tony & guards
TONY: "It's no good. We'll never find him in the dark."
GUARD 1: "He doesn't need to see. Not the way he knows the catacombs."
TONY (takes comlock): "Maya."
MAYA (VO): "Yes, Tony."
TONY: "We're in the catacombs, level three. Get here on the double."
An explosion is heard overhead.
EXT. MOONBASE ALPHA (SFX)
Buildings under heat.
83. INT. MEDICAL
Ben & Helena tend sick Alphans
BEN: "Not as many injured as I thought."
84. INT. CAVES
GUARD 1: "Suppose we do catch up with him. Will it matter?"
TONY: "That's another thing I like about you. You're always upbeat."
MAYA (distant): "Tony!"
TONY: "Maya." ((they go after her voice)) "Maya?"
MAYA (she arrives, wearing red jumpsuit): "I'm here, Tony."
TONY: "Osgood's taken Michelle deep into the catacombs. Now somebody's gotta go in after them. Somebody who can see in the dark." ((Maya becomes a tiger & holds up her paws. It starts off.)) "Let's hear you, so we can follow." ((the tiger growls as it starts off))
Michelle falls again, but Osgood lifts her & carries on.
Tiger prowls.
Osgood stops, hearing the growl.

Osgood pauses again.

Tiger lifts its forepaws up.
Osgood backs to the wall
Tony edges near Michelle. An explosion is heard & he grabs her; a rockfall & Osgood screams.
MAYA: "Tony!"
TONY: "I'm okay. I've got Michelle."
MAYA: "Where's Osgood?"
TONY: "He's buried. Under a rockfall. Give me a hand. Get her to Medical fast." ((to guard))
MAYA: "What about Osgood?"
TONY: "I'm not going to leave him here."
85. INT. MEDICAL
Ben & Helena check the laser unit over Michelle, preparing surgery. Helena scans Michelle.
HELENA: "Are we ready? Power on the hyperthermic lance. Incision." ((a whine))
86. INT. CAVES
Tony throws large rocks from the rockfall. He sees a dirty hand among the boulders.
85. INT. MEDICAL
A screen says 37 minutes. Tweezers remove pink pads from a plastic bag.
HELENA: "Nurse." ((her forehead is swabbed))
Monitor bleeps.
BEN: "Pulse rate irregular. Heart stopped."
HELENA: "Retractors."
BEN: "Pressure going down."
HELENA: "Clamp off."
BEN: "Pressure gone."
HELENA: "Suction."
Ben's forehead is swabbed.
86. INT. CAVES
Tony throws off rocks.
INT. MEDICAL
The heart unit is removed from the glass cover.
HELENA: "Electro cortary. Arterial clamp." ((Ben swabbed)) "Venus clamp."
BEN: "Her heart's started again."
EXT. SPACE (SFX)
Storm waves.
EXT. LAUNCH PAD (SFX)
87./88. INT. MEDICAL
Michelle lies on a bed, her eyes open & staring up.
BEN: "The heart beat's excellent. The pulse rate's poor. Her vital signs are weak."
HELENA: "She's dying."
BEN: "We thought she could live forever. But we just can't transplant faith."
HELENA: "Patrick said she would survive- but without him..."
Tony wheels in Osgood on a stretcher.
TONY: "He's alive."
HELENA: "Put him over there, right next to his wife."
She turns to look at her unconscious husband.
EXT. SPACE (SFX)
Receding firestorm.
EXT. MOONBASE ALPHA (SFX)
The yellow glow leaves the smoking buildings.
INT. MEDICAL
Osgood opens his eyes & his wife smiles at him. Osgood looks up at the ceiling.
OSGOOD: "It's over."
Tony looks up, mystified. He goes to the temperature gauge: 45 drops to 40, then 35. Helena notes it.
EXT. SPACE (SFX)
Firestorm recedes.
88. INT. MEDICAL
Tony returns to Helena, looking at Michelle & Osgood.
HELENA: "I think Michelle's going to be alright. I wonder if Patrick will regain his mental stability."
TONY: "Yeah, maybe. Given enough time. And faith."
Osgood & Michelle hold hands.
FADE OUT
89. INT. LIVING QUARTERS
Tony looks at his beer brewing machine, while Helena stares abstractly away.
TONY: "I see you can't tear yourself away from admiring my artistry."
HELENA: "No, I was thinking about Patrick and Michelle."
TONY: "Yeah, about Patrick. You know, one thing bothers me. His prediction of that heat storm. I mean how come he knew that? Don't tell me he was in communication with that storm cloud."
HELENA: "Look, his mind was under tremendous strain. We knew so little about the Universe, who's to say there wasn't an intelligence in that heat storm that was somehow able to communicate with Patrick in the state he was in."
TONY: "Not me. Oh, would you look at that colour. Pure amber. And the consistency of it, why there's not a bubble in sight."
HELENA: "Our computer analysis of your last concoction.."
TONY: "Yeah, yeah, yeah, unfit for human consumption, sure I know. Would you tell me what does a computer know about beer anyway? No lust for adventure, no imagination, no taste. Nothing. Hmm. Verdeschi, you're a genius."
EXT. LAUNCH PAD (SFX)
Eagle lands on partially sunken pad.
89. INT. LIVING QUARTERS
Sandra appears on screen.
TONY: "Yes, Sahn."
SANDRA (on screen): "Tony, Eagle One has just touched down."
Tony presses control; screen changes to show Koenig.
HELENA: "Welcome back, John."
KOENIG (on screen): "It's good to be back, Helena. I guess luck was with us. What's with Alpha?"
TONY: "Everything's okay, John. As a matter of fact, we were just about to raise a glass to your safe return."
KOENIG (on screen): "Not of your manufacture, I hope."
HELENA: "Only one of us is that adventurous."
TONY: "Oh, that is fantastic. Now who said that was unfit for human consumption?"
HELENA: "Who said you were human?"
TONY: "I'm going to find Maya. If I'm going to be insulted, I want it done by an expert." ((leaves; Koenig laughs))
HELENA: "John. Thanks for the tiranium."
KOENIG (on screen): "Tiranium?"
HELENA: "It saved Michelle's life."
KOENIG (on screen): "Didn't I..oh, yeah."
HELENA: "Welcome back, John."
