Interview with Steve Eramo, 1977.
It was pretty hard work, but we all managed to have fun. We had a marvellous crew who were always ready with a joke. I also happen to be a great giggler and sometimes the crew would fix things so that I couldn't stop laughing. Once we were all doing a very tense scene, hanging onto the desks against an incredible alien force. Well, we all thought it was a bit funny and started laughing and joking. Suddenly the director got fed up and yelled "Action!". Well, when it came to my line there was a squeak and we all collapsed.
I also got the giggles when we all had to lie on the floor. After all, we had all been to drama school, learning all kinds of things and it just seems silly to end up lying on the floor. We tend to say in these circumstances "What a funny way to earn a living!"
Another incident was on War Games. Charlie Crichton had told us to do whatever was most natural to us if we thought the roof of Main Mission should cave in. Well, there was an air of general panic, but Barry Morse, Clifton Jones and I all ended up huddled together under the desk. We turned out to be the clever ones as on the actual take the three of us only got a fraction of the dust and debris. We always managed to get some fun somewhere or say lines in such a way in a rehearsal that would make the others laugh.
