NEW ADAM, NEW EVE

Compare with ITC summary.

The "all-mighty" Magus leads John, Helena, Maya and Tony to a new Garden of Eden where they find that even in the furthest limits of outer space, there exists a hell!

There is someone up there!

A commanding figure, with long, flowing robes, a man who appears like a sage in the Old Testament, who resembles Michelangelo's Moses, arrives on Moonbase Alpha, and proclaims "I am your creator." His name is Magus.

Magus performs miracle after miracle, delivering all sorts of marvelous gifts to the Alphans, and finally, the ultimate lure, another Earth.

Magus proclaims, "I will give you a second chance. A new Earth. A new Eden." Though suspicious of Magus, Commander John Koenig, Dr. Helena Russell, Maya and Tony Verdeschi form an exploratory landing party and head for the new Earth.

It is everything promised and more, and yet there is something in the bearing of Magus, in his arrogance, in his cunning, that re-emphasizes John's suspicions that he is less than a benign god.

Soon, Magus' true intentions are revealed. He has a master plan for a super race of genetically perfect beings and wants to mate John with Maya and Helena with Tony! He warns the Alphans that they are forbidden to leave their idyllic area in the glade, and encourages his proposed matings.

When Magus leaves, despite themselves, John and Maya are drawn together. The same thing happens to Helena and Tony, and just as the four of them are to consummate their bond of love, terrible howls of horror are heard, jarring them back to their senses.

The howl came from nightmarishly ugly offspring of other matings, engineered by Magus. From them, the Alphans learn who Magus really is.

A MATTER OF BALANCE

Compare with ITC summary.

While exploring an apparently lifeless planet, a member of Alpha's crew discovers a time portal guarded by a 1000-year-old creature... suddenly, all Alphans are in danger of losing their future in return for a horrible past!

Commander John Koenig and Moonbase Alpha's botanist, Shermeen, set out to explore an apparently lifeless planet. Lately Shermeen has been suffering with strange dreams, and while collecting samples of the planet's vegetation, she suddenly feels very dizzy. Her strange dream is returning. It is of a man who calls himself Vindrus. He tells her to travel to a beautiful but strange temple not far from the landing site. When Koenig, Maya, and Lt. Bill Fraser try to follow her, they are attacked by a huge and gruesome monster which seems to be guarding the entrance of the temple. Strangely, the creature lets Shermeen into the temple.

Inside, Shermeen comes face to face with Vindrus who asks for help, explaining that what she sees is only an image of himself and that what he really wants is to transport himself into her world.

Meanwhile, outside, Maya transforms herself into a fox and sneaks past the monster. Once inside, she finds Shermeen and photographs the bizarre interior before leading her out.

Back on Alpha, Koenig questions Shermeen about getting inside the temple so easily, but she is strangely evasive. Maya now has developed her pictures and recognizes a machine used for neutronic transmission, capable of bending time and space.

Knowing that Shermeen has a crush on First Officer Verdeschi, Koenig asks Tony to question her about the temple, hoping she will be more responsive. While Tony is talking to her, Vindrus appears and explains that his world is moving backward in time toward extinction, which is why his people want to transport themselves into the Alphan's world. Then, Vindrus reveals the real truth they have been waiting for a race like the Alphans because for every one of Vindrus' people who crosses over, another person must cross back. A matter of balance.

Tony races for the alarm bell but is knocked unconscious. Under the influence of Vindrus, Shermeen comandeers an Eagle and lands back on the planet. Koenig, Maya and Tony follow but again face the terrifying guardian creature, this time ready to kill any intruders.

Suddenly a very solid Vindrus steps out of the temple and shows the Alphans an image of Shermeen now floating deep in the portal. Vindrus calmly informs them that everyone on the moon will shortly be exchanged through the portal for one of his own people!
