While most medical beds are standard flat single mattresses (with a wedge shaped pillow), Moonbase living quarters often had a distinctive contour bed. The "S" shape ensures the head is raised, as are the knees. It is a commercial single bed or lounger, but the manufacturer and designer are unknown. It is similar to a known Joe Colombo design (the "Additional Living System" seating system for Sormani, 1967, comprising vertical cushions which could be pinned together in different configurations). It is first glimpsed in Koenig's quarters in Breakaway.
