Fanderson Gold marked 50 years since Gerry Anderson began his career (at Gainsborough Studios as an assistant editor in 1946). It also marked the 15 year anniversary of the creation of the Fanderson fan club. Convention report
The convention was held on 24-26 August 1996 at the Oatlands Park Hotel, Weybridge. The convention book was an attractive A4 magazine, with gold background cover, but black and white photos throughout. It contained a short endorsement by Lew Grade.
There was a Gerry Anderson biography, a filmography listing all the series, and a list of episode titles for each series.
There was a list of the 50 most popular episodes, as voted by attendees. Space: 1999's Breakaway was top. At least for Space: 1999, some episodes were unusually popular. The 4th most popular episode was The Dorcons (at 25), and the 6th was Devil's Planet (at 30), both far ahead of Black Sun (7th most popular Space: 1999, 41 in overall list). Several series had pages of behind the scenes shots.
