This is the second day of shooting the Main Mission shots during the breakaway, and includes some of the stunt shots. They then move to scenes as the Alphans get up, see the picture from the Mars satellite (scenes 145-147), computer's report (scene 148, ending "HUMAN DECISION REQUIRED"), Koenig's all sections announcement (148-154), and the final epilogue (scene 156) as they watch the newscaster, which fades into the Meta signal. After all that, there are further pick-up scenes from 5pm in the afternoon. One set was the Eagle passenger module, where Koenig on the way to Alpha in the opening scenes, watching a newscast (a scene that was deleted). This was the recording of the newscast, so Landau was not required. The other set was the travel tube for two sequences, when Koenig first arrives on Alpha and meets Bergman, and the scene when Simmonds arrives.
It was a lot of scenes to get through, and even with an extended day they didn't complete all the shots. They were still shooting these scenes on Thursday 20th December, four days later. In the original shooting schedule, they should have been shot on 10th and 11th December.
The main stunt is Alf Joint falling from the Main Mission balcony. We don't see in the stunt the episode. We see him on the balcony in the series titles, and then later on the floor of Main Mission after the Breakaway. The other stunt is a jerk fall by Paul Weston. The jerk stunt uses a hidden wire to pull the stuntman sharply across the set. Again, the stunt is not used in the episode, but we see Weston fall against the stairs to the balcony, and later he is seen sitting on the stairs. There is also a "chair impact shot", which must involve one of the Gaudi chairs hitting something. The shot isn't used, nor is there obvious damage to wall panels or windows afterwards, although the chairs are scattered over the set.
