The Production GuideThis is an extended day of shooting on Black Sun, with five different set-ups on 3 different stages.
The day starts with Bergman and Koenig observing the forcefield test on the lunar surface. The camera is on a rostrum (raised platform), looking down on the actors, and there is a crane to take higher views.
The series opening titles are re-shot. The first versions were shot on Friday 11 January, but now a month later they are re-filming the Landau and Bain shots.
At noon, they shoot some corridor scenes on H stage. The first scene, 94, is when Koenig reads the names of the survival ship, and we see Professor Aretha Robinson (Corinne Skinner Carter, later to become a soap star in East Enders). The second shot is Bergman and Helena going to the survival ship, and the main shot is the final scene of the episode when the survival ship returns.
Next we go to L stage, where the Main Power Unit has been built by revamping Koenig's office. This includes the shot when Bergman is electrocuted.
The day finishes on the Medical set, following chronologically from the above electrocution scene. In the episode we only see scene 79, when Bergman wakes (Koenig is not present); scene 75 was filmed but cut (see our description).
