In this scene, Koenig is in Command Center, and has just refused Helena's request that Cantar and Zova be allowed in the Life Support Complex. The dialogue is reworked several times, in both blue and green pen with much crossing out. The scene was eventually deleted in favour of an action sequence of an explosion in Technical Section (a very late amendment, the replacement scene was filmed several months later). All that remains is Koenig's abrupt line to Tony and Maya: "Get down to Life Support, I want those aliens out of there. No arguments, go!"

He pushes the switch and HELENA's face fades from the
screen. KOENIG swings round to MAYA.
I'm not letting them near that power station.
(To ask this question (at this point)
Koenig is afraid!)
KOENIG
How long will it take you
until I know
to figure out exactly what
they're doing?
How can we be sure they're not working
an angle?
It makes us
a dolt to
allow them to
fool around blindly
MAYA
It would take careful observ-
ation.
KOENIG
Then get down there and observe.
+ keep an eye on them
(To HAYS)
You too, Simon.
KOENIG
How can we be sure
they're not working an angle?
MAYA
Only by careful observation.
Koenig- Then get down there to observe.
You too Tony.
As they move for the door:
76 INT. LIFE SUPPORT COMPLEX (ALPHA) 76
CANTAR and ZOVA are at their consoles.
CANTAR
Final test.
ZOVA throws a switch. The lights begin to strobe ...
the thin bleep picks up...
HELENA and the GUARD put their hands over their ears.
The SOUND rises.
ON CANTAR and ZOVA.
They exchange a glance. ZOVA switches off. As the
SOUND dies PULL BACK. HELENA looks up in surprise as
CANTAR starts for the power room.
C.U. HELENA.
HELENA
Cantar ...!
ANGLE GUARD, CANTAR.
The GUARD steps forward.
GUARD
I'm sorry sir ... my orders
are that nobody enters this
room.
