This is the first special effects storyboard for the final episode, The Dorcons.
The Dorcon robot probe and spaceship look very different to the models created by Martin Bower, but the overall configurations are similar.
Scene 3, slate 2X.
Closer on satellite
Slowly track in until it fills frame
An early part of the zoom is used by the editor as a later cut-away.
Scene 9, slate 5X.
Satellite in space
Pulsating energy shoots out
The editor shifts this shot later (otherwise the light beam would have taken a long time to reach Alpha)
Scene 12, slate LIBRARY.
2 shots of Eagles descending underground
Library shots are SFX sequences filmed for previous episodes. The film could simply be edited into the episode without shooting new (similar) SFX shots, saving time and money. The two Eagle shots are the same shot, reversed left for right. An additional shot from The Seance Spectre is used, showing the launch pad roof closing.
Scene 16, slate 7X.
Point source of green light expands to fill screen.
Fairly fast.
(In green: Direct)
Scene 17A, slate 8X.
Pulsating green light diminishes to point source and then out.
(In green: Plate)
Scene 22, slate 11X.
Yellow smoke clouds continues to expand.
Shown full screen (no Big Screen frame)
Scene 24, slate 12X.
As smoke cloud recedes the Dorcon ship appears
Shoot smoke cloud in reverse
Shown full screen (no Big Screen frame)
Scene 26, slate 13X.
Dorcon ship in space sky.
In the episode, we see the Dorcon ship from scene 24/slate 12X. This shot (shown full screen with no Big Screen frame) is used as a later cut-away.
