Back around October/November of 1976 (and a fresh faced 16 year old!) I was doing a film and TV related school project. As part of that, and with an avid interest in Space 1999, I approached their production office and I guess cheekily simply asked if they might entertain a visit from me to the sets and studio as part of my project. To my utter astonishment - even to this day - they agreed and that began the first of 4 separate visits to the sets at Pinewood Studios.
Unfortunately, my camera in those days was very primitive - failing completely on several occasions there - and the few shots I did manage to get weren't the best although they've recently been cleaned up and upscaled and look so much better (credit to The Art of Space: 1999 Facebook guys). Nick Tate wasn't filming on the day when these shots were taken and very kindly took the shots of me here. A complete gentleman! On other days I was lucky enough to see Martin Landau, Barbara Bain and other cast members rehearsing and filming.
All in all a very exciting chapter of my life which I cherish and I'm happy to share my memories and photos with the multitudes of other fans I know are out there.
Original (slight repairs) and cleaned up versions are shown here (credit: Art of Space 1999 FB group)
On the lunar surface (stage M). Probably The Seance Spectre.
Desks are not in their filming arrangement, probably moved for filming elsewhere on the set.
The "Emergency Repair" panel by the pilot seat first appears in The Seance Spectre.
The passenger module computer is in the configuration seen in The Seance Spectre.
