Two aliens are discovered beneath the surface of the moon. They carry with them a disease so horrible that the entire base becomes caught in a deadly game of chance. Who will survive?
Deep below the surface of the moon in a sublunarean tunnel, Flight Lieutenant Alan Carter and Minerologist Andy Johnson search for dylenide crystals, a rare but vital asset. Suddenly, the moon rock that has remained undisturbed for millions of years crumbles to reveal a solid silver metallic cabinet. Through a dimly lit window, the face of a man can be plainly seen, his eyes open, staring coldly, unblinkingly.
Dr. Helena Russell and First Officer Tony Verdeschi, with a team of excavation experts, are called to this scene of intense excitement. Inside the cabinet, they discover Pasc and his son Etrec in a state of cryogenic suspended animation. Without warning, a huge section of the roof breaks away smashing the cabinet open. Maya discovers that they are from the planet Archanon, the "planet of peace." Many years ago, the Archanons came to rid the Earth of violence and destruction, but because of their genetic makeup, they were infected with a horrible disease: tiny microorganisms forced the Archanons into fits of convulsive violence. They destroyed each other and only Pasc and Etrec escaped by imprisoning themselves in a frozen tomb.
Now they are again free and the deadly disease has started to spread throughout Moonbase Alpha. Can Commander John Koenig discover the mysterious answer to this puzzle before all of Alpha goes berserk? Can Dr. Russell stop the remaining Archanons from killing themselves and all those around them? It's now a race against time.
