Script To Screen

The Seance Spectre The Seance Spectre The Seance Spectre The Seance Spectre The Seance Spectre

The episode ends in Command Center with Tony and Alan looking at the desk screen. "As you said, if you like nature, doctor." says Alan. "So I did." Helena replies. We see the screen, showing pictures of girls. Tony says "Well, you said choose something from the Picture Library, right? That is what I call choice. Oh mother." Alan's final line is "My mother was never like that" (a voice over), and we see Tony and Alan smiling.

The scene 183 was filmed on the morning of Monday 25th October 1976 (carried over from the previous Friday; the rest of the day was spent in Medical Center and corridor scenes). The filmed scene followed the script shown below. In the final edit, the scene is shortened, with the short addition of Alan's line (a post-production dub). Maya's transformation, the "Bikini Girl", was played by Venicia Day (real name Mary Weston, imdb; she also has a short uncredited role as a slave in the 1979 Dr Who story Destiny of the Daleks). A number of publicity photos were shot.

The main problem with the scene may have been the see-through costume, rather than the appalling sexist humour.

ANOTHER ANGLE

CARTER turns to HELENA.

CARTER

If you like nature, you said
doctor

HELENA

So I did.

MAYA walks over, looks at monitor. Reacts.

VERDESCHI

(to HELENA)

You said choose something
from the picture library ...
now that's what I call a
choice.

CLOSE ON MAYA'S EYES

A fabulously stacked, black-haired girl appears.

FULL SHOT

Fabulous girl in a bikini (MAYA) walks past VERDESCHI
and CARTER. CARTER's eyes follow her.

VERDESCHI

(without taking his
eyes off monitor)

Don't let her distract you,
Alan. It's only Maya.

CARTER gets up to follow girl.

CARTER

I don't care who it is...

VERDESCHI yanks him back into his seat.

VERDESCHI

But I care.

CLOSE ON fabulous GIRL at door.

She changes into MAYA ... stares impishly at VERDESCHI
and CARTER and exits past HELENA and KOENIG, who smile
delightedly as:

FADE OUT:

END OF EPISODE

From the same cut scene, although no kiss is scripted. Probably the end of the scene; Tony has moved to the other side of the desk, Maya must be returning from the doorway, rather than exiting. Note the microphone.
