Monday 27th May was the May bank holiday in the UK, so the cast and crew had a long weekend after finishing the previous episode. Filming Force Of Life started on Tuesday 28th May 1974, beginning with corridor scenes on stage H (Zoref kills Hilary Preston). On Thursday 30th they moved to the Medical set on stage L, finally finishing on Monday 3rd June and starting on the Solarium set. On Tuesday 4th they started to film in Zoref's quarters, again on stage H. Meanwhile the huge Nuclear Generating Area 3 set was built on stage M. It was scheduled for shooting on Wednesday 5th, but on Thursday 6th they still had to complete one scene in the quarters before finally starting to film on the set. There would be one more day of filming on the set, Friday 7th June.
This is the call sheet for day 8, Thursday 6th June, finishing the Zoref quarters scenes and then starting in the Generating Area at 10:00am. Normally filming stopped at 5:30pm, but today was longer, lasting until 7pm.
The day starts in the living quarters set on stage H, finishing scene 30. Paul Morrow appears on the communications post to announce "Access to the Generating Area is forbidden. Until further notice." (Prentis Hancock was present to read these lines in front of a TV camera that was shown live on the post screen). Zoref then tells Eva that Dominix is dead. He leaves to see Dr Russell.
The crew then moves to stage M and the generating area set, for most of the early scenes involving Zoref and Dominix. The two guards are seen passing in the corridor as Zoref walks in (scene 6).
Scene 14, Zoref collapses. The call sheets specifies the wardrobe provide pads for Zoref, worn under his costume to protect him when he falls to the floor. The camera also needed a protection pad as well as a fish-eye lens.
Scene 26, Dominix gives Zoref some coffee, which freezes in his hands. The call sheet specifies practical (real) coffee and frozen coffee, with "repeats" (because there would be multiple takes of the shots). The art department had to have a real refrigerator on the set to keep the frozen coffee.
Scene 26, Dominix is frozen. Make up provided frozen effects, while special effects provided a head rest, so Dominix's head would be in the same position before and after he is frozen. Dominix wears a second costume (frozen), and the art department provides a practical wrist monitor with flashing light.
