Script To Screen

Space Brain

The complicated foam effects made the production slip behind schedule. The swamping of Main Mission had been scheduled for Tuesday 10th, with the final clearing-up scene on Wednesday 11th. In the event, much of the filming spilled over onto Wednesday, as shown by this call sheet. Some of the Eagle shots that were due to be filmed were relegated to a stand-by set, whenever the cast and crew were free due to the preparations on the main set.

The sound of the aircraft engines pumping in the foam drowned out director Charles Crichton's voice. Crying "Stop the foam", he ran forward, waving his arms, slipped and disappeared into the suds. Recovering his dignity, Crichton was able to catch up to the shooting schedule on Friday.
