The Production Guide
The real Koenig returns to Command Center and confronts the replica Koenig: "You're at my desk, alien". The original 25th May script has the familiar lines, but is simpler, with Koenig just hitting a button to create the high frequency sound which shatters the replica. A very similar ending will be used in The Bringers of Wonder part 2 ("white noise"), but it's a little abrupt here.

KOENIG-2
(quiet, convincing)
That is an image creature
projected by the asteroid.
Do not listen to it. Destroy
it.
ANGLE TO CARTER, HELENA, YASKO, et al.
Bewildered, hardly able to believe their eyes - all
except HELENA, that is. She is staring at both with
great intensity.
HELENA'S P.O.V.
The two KOENIGS.
KOENIG-2 (Cont'd.)
Destroy it!
FAVOR KOENIG-1
KOENIG-1
(level, calm)
One of us has to be for real -
one an image.
KOENIG-2
I was on that asteroid - I know
what its force is trying to do to
us ... it's running out of time
now ... the last chance it
will have.
KOENIG-1
That is the truth. If it can't
drain the last of our power, it
will die -
KOENIG-2
(fighting the time-bomb;
pointing at KOENIG-1)
It's why my image was sent - to
confuse us long enough to steal
these last moments and complete
the transfer.

KOENIG-1
(of KOENIG-2)
He is the image - he should know -
KOENIG-1 hits a button on console and a slow building
whine of ultra high frequency builds ... everyone
clamping their ears against the sound - everyone except
KOENIG-2.
KOENIG-2 moves towards KOENIG-1, his eyes blazing,
features twisted into a snarl, his intention is to
stop KOENIG-1.
KOENIG-2
Kalthon lives!
KOENIG-2 on the move towards KOENIG-1 at console.
KOENIG-1
(he turns up dial)
Kalthon dies!
SOUND rises in pitch, as it does so KOENIG-2's movements
slow until he is frozen (movement that is).
ANGLE to KOENIG-2
As sound rises to a higher frequency whine. KOENIG-2
is transfixed.
ANGLE TO GROUP
Hands protecting ears from the sound. Sound is almost
body-breaking.
CLOSE SHOT KOENIG-2
There is a sound of glass shattering as KOENIG's image
disintegrates into fragments.
(NOTE: CLOSE UP OF KOENIG SHOT IN MIRROR - HI-SPEED
CAMERA MIRROR SHATTERED WITH SUITABLE MISSILE.)
CLOSE ON FLOOR where KOENIG-2 stood. A mass of
fragmented crystal.
In the blue pages from 6th July, we have several new elements, including the mirror-image jacket, the hair parting, a personal appeal to Helena, and Alan firing a laser at the replica Koenig. The ending is now somewhat overcooked, with everyone immediately turning against the fake Koenig.

See how fiendishly clever

of emergency I acted contrary
to my own character, so that
even Doctor Russell denies me.
CARTER
(accusing)
Not only Doctor Russell ...
KOENIG-2
Look Alan ... the printing on his
jacket. It is opposite mine ...
who does that make the reflection?
Reaction shots of Alpha Personnel - more doubt.
KOENIG-1
Yes ... the lettering ...
because he switched jackets ...
but he forgot about hair ... Helena,
Alan ... a simple thing like the
part in my hair.
CARTER
Complete realization. CARTER pulls his laser gun,
fires at KOENIG-2.
FAVOR KOENIG-2
No effect. KOENIG-2 laughs, starts for KOENIG ...
knocks anybody out of his way who attempts to bar
his path.
FAVOR KOENIG-1.
