Observations: Voyager's Return

Voyager's Return

The Queller drive propels Voyager 1 through space at incredible speed. It is now heading towards the Moon. Two Eagles fly from the Moon towards it. If the Voyager was flying at the same speed or faster than an Eagle, it would arrive at Alpha long before Alan's damaged Eagle. Yet Alan returns to Alpha 11 hours before the Voyager is in range. Thanks to John Day.

Voyager's Return

Just before his Eagle explodes, Abrams lurches forward. Although this is so quick it barely registers, the script makes it clear he is sucked out of the Eagle windows by explosive decompression.

Voyager's Return

During the explosion of Abrams' Eagle, the special effects mounting can be seen briefly before the flames obscure it.

Voyager's Return

There are brown carpets on the Main Mission floor behind Koenig as he paces up and down in this scene.

Voyager's Return

The Experimental lab has a DeVere 504 Cathomag vertically mounted photographic enlarger (the Cathomag logo is seen clearly). It is fitted with an integral dark box, so does not require use in a dark room.

Voyager's Return

Note the Eagle blueprints visible in the lab. These are likely to be the original blueprints for the Eagle drawn by Michael Lamont.

Voyager's Return

There is another long shot of the full base as an Eagle being raised on the launch pad (see also Guardian Of Piri). The Eagle this time has a booster pod, the second appearance of this. All the Eagles seen thereafter have normal transporter pods.

Voyager's Return This Episode

The THIS EPISODE sequence has an unused shot of four Eagles in space- the central Eagle lit differently to the other three.

Voyager's Return

After Queller falls to the floor, the camera shows Haines, then zooms to a close up of the communications post screen as the clock clicks down. At the bottom left of the screen, a hand can be seen covering a smoke nozzle. Thanks to "Gwent".

Voyager's Return

There are brown carpets on the floor, to reduce the sound of footsteps.

Voyager's Return Voyager's Return

When the Voyager lands, one leg is almost directly in front of the boarding tube. When the launch platform descends and the boarding tube connects, the ship has turned round.

Voyager's Return

This close up of Queller shows the bottom of the Medical panel marked "Blood Transfusion Treatment And Service Unit" (first seen in Guardian Of Piri). In high definition, the text ends "24pt Data 70". This is the name of the font used to create the label, taken directly from the Letraset lettering sheet.

Voyager's Return

When the Voyager launches, the initial shot of the engines shows the dust placed underneath in a neat pile.

Voyager's Return

The monitor on the right is showing the constellations of the northern sky: Ursa Major is visible just left of the center.
