Born in 1971 in Canada, Wood has been active as a Space: 1999 fan for many years. He founded the fan club Alpha League in 1990.
Wood, with writing partner Anthony Wynn, worked with actor Barry Morse on various projects, including his autobiography, Pulling Faces, Making Noises (2004), with a new version Remember with Advantages (2007). There have been various other book projects based on Morse's writing. Wood also edited the autobiography of Zienia Merton titled Anecdotes and Armadillos (2005). He is also working on the autobiography of another Space: 1999 star, edited from archived interviews.
Wood was involved in a Space: 1999 reboot proposal titled Moonbase Alpha Legacy in 2014. He later developed an original science fiction proposal Helios, which was turned into a audio drama in 2025.
