Main Mission Alpha

Main Mission Alpha was the first Space: 1999 fan club, started in February 1976 by Mary Hartery (Steve Eramo's Alpha Newsletter started a little earlier). Hartery and Mary D. Bloemker were involved in the organisation of the Star Trek convention "August Party" which invited Nick Tate (photos); at the convention Tate endorsed the fan club.

The newsletter was titled Main Mission Alpha for two issues, until October 1976, when it was renamed "Command Center". A yearly fanzine was called "Alpha Log", with five issues in total (1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981). In 1978, it was taken over by Mary D. Bloemker. The club finally closed in July 1981.
