Koenig Year 2 Uniform

Original Commander Koenig Year 2 costume and waistcoat, displayed at the Alpha:2014 convention. While many Year 2 uniforms were converted from Year 1 costumes, Martin Landau, Barbara Bain and Catherine Schell had completely new uniforms made for the second series.

As in his year 1 uniform, the sleeve and collar are charcoal grey, not black as they appeared on screen. Koenig's uniform is unusual in several respects. The tunic is made of several pieces of fabric, with the seam line emphasised by the horizontal and vertical stitching over the front. On most other tunics, the whole of the front is one piece of fabric, with 3 lines of stitching. The trousers have a zipper and pockets.

Journey To Where

Koenig almost always wears a jacket, but we clearly see his new tunic in Journey To Where. The stripe down the right sleeve stops at the shoulder seam; in year 1 it continued to the collar. Unlike the other year 2 uniforms, there is no triangular insert cut into the front hem of the tunic.

In the earlier episodes of Year 2, the zip goes up to the collar. There is also a line of stitching around the collar. This uniform, without the collar stitching and a velcro collar, first appears in The Beta Cloud and Space Warp

This is the tunic in 2014. The interior of the collar is a burgundy colour. The collar is closed with Velcro. The sleeve zipper is made by "Robin"- "Samson".

Martin Landau's name is written inside the zipper, just like all the other cast costumes.

Inside of the uniform. While year 1 uniforms were altered for year 2 by stitching 3 black lines horizontally and vertically, Koenig's year 2 costume was made by stitching together squares of material, folded inside at the seam here. Externally the uniform has 2 lines of decorative black stitching, with the seam centrally between them (see the following pictures, inside and outside).

The rear of the uniform. The seam and black stitching continue across the back under the shoulders.

Trousers

These trousers are marked as "ML No.3". Unlike most Alphans, Koenig had a zipper and pockets.
