Script To Screen: The Full Circle

Script To Screen

While the main unit was filming day 2 of End of Eternity (the scenes in Koenig's office), Bob Kellett took a second unit out to finish The Full Circle on the backlot. Kellett only had a small crew, just 35 people (the main unit had a crew of 75).

The Full Circle

In this sequence, Alan falls into a hidden pit, fights Spearman, and is saved by his bleeping commlock. Alan has his stun gun in his holster throughout the fight, and doesn't try to use it. In the script, Spearman kicks the stun gun from his hand when he draws it. Arguably Alan has to keep his hands up to block the spear, giving him no opportunity to draw his gun. Camera angles keep the gun hidden for most of the sequence.

The Full Circle

The cavemen are Tony Boyd, Oliver Cotton and Jeffrey Taylor. Tony Allyn (normally Alpha's security guard) appears briefly at the end when they leave.

Scene 123 is a brief shot of Spearman stabbing the spear at Alan, just missing him and striking the wall. The call sheet specifies a "reverse magazine", so the plan was to film the shot in reverse, which is safer for the artists and stuntmen. There is no reversed shot in the final sequence.

The Full Circle

Alan climbs out of the pit in scene 157 (now clearly showing his stun gun). On 23rd September pink line amendments, two of the cavemen are nearby, but ignore him: "The two cavemen are squatting on ground playing with commlock - they do not notice Carter getting away." This didn't make the final episode, and we don't know if this was filmed.
