The green pipe is an unusual green colour, and mostly appeared in the second series. It first appears in Flight Control in Breakaway. There's a big dial on one of the tube legs, and small dials on the base. On one end of the main tube there's a yellow light; on the other a square plate, with a clear perspex sheet slotted into the side, showing jagged lines, and attached to wires. The perspex sheet slides in and out of the square plate, and is usually seen fully pushed in.
The prop was created by Century 21 Film Props/Computer Printout for the 1972 BBC ghost drama The Stone Tape. It was created at the same time as Bergman's perspex sphere often seen alongside it. Note the eyepiece which is never seen in Space: 1999.
In Alpha Child, it appears in Victor's living quarters, repainted in white.
It disappears for the rest of Year 1, until it reappears in the Eagle in All That Glisters.
It's soon back on Alpha in Journey To Where in the Research Building
In New Adam, New Eve it gets promoted into Command Center.
In Catacombs Of The Moon it's taken on a trolley through the Alphan corridors.
In The A B Chrysalis it's back in Command Center, and is thrown onto the floor by one of the explosions.
