On Friday 17th May, the production were finishing filming scenes in Koenig's office, including scene 94, the conference planning Exodus (see script). Filming started on Thursday 16th, with a long set of Main Mission scenes. On Friday the focus is entirely in Koenig's office, although the full Main Mission staff are present as the doors are open between the two.

The first command conference in the episode, scene 27 when Bergman collapses. Parts of this scene were filmed on Thursday.

In the afternoon, the production moves to a new set, Diagnostic.

First is the scene 36 when Bergman wakes up, immediately after the scene 27 conference. Bergman is working on a "pad of calculations".

The camera crew specify "Glass fx shot for Kano disappearing". The shot is a classic jump cut, in which the camera is locked in place, Landau and Bain stand still, and the camera stops to allow Clifton Jones to leave, then restarts. The film is rewound a few frames and when it restarts, it is double-exposed, so Kano becomes transparent a second before disappearing (Landau and Bain have moved slightly, making their faces blurred). A piece of angled glass is put in front of the camera, and a light directed at it, which reflects back to the camera as the glow over Kano's head. The entire shot is done on the studio floor, meaning the crew can quickly see the finished shot in the rushes, and there is no expensive, slow optical printing (which has to be done for laser beams and inevitably reduces the image quality).
