Eagle set

The Eagle set, built by Darrell Simmonds and his team, was the highlight of the convention, and was used for several photo shoots with guests and a few lucky fans. The set even included a recreation of the Eagle viewscreen (the original prop was also at the convention).

This two walls and front panel are authentic to how the Eagle cockpit set was filmed; the camera normally filmed from the pilot side, so that side wall was removed, and a front of the set was never built.

The chairs are dentist chairs; the pilot seat (closest to camera) is authentic, the co-pilot seat is a similar model with alterations. The seats are heavy, needing four people to move them. Note they are level with the central walkway. The pilots have to sit down and get up from floor level with their legs in front of them. In the show, when occupied the seats are closer to the front console, with knees under the console; but when they are entering or leaving, the seats are further back, as here. The head-rest and seatbelts just hang over the back of the seats; they are not secured to anything. The metal bar holding up the arm-rest is, in the show, only on the left-hand side; the right-side is removed so the arm-rest can be swivelled up (the arm rests are removed for Jackie Crawford in Alpha Child).

The small levers by the side of the walkway are authentic to how they appeared at the start of the series (the boxes with levers only appeared in Collision Course with another level being added in Space Brain).

Front console

The front console. The detailing changed between episodes; this is correct to around War Games (with the vacuum chamber controls from Earthbound). In the actual episode, you can sometimes see exposed wood on the back and sides of the console; here they have been nicely enclosed.

Pilot side wall

The pilot side wall was detached and alongside the set, as it would have been during filming. The intention is to create a fully enclosed set.

Another Time, Another Place

The pilot side panels. This is very accurate to the Year 1 panels; the laser button top right appears in War Games

The panels are all accurate to those used in the series. The "chessboard" panels in the series had unique patterns and letters, but the details of more standard panels, including colours of lights and small letraset markings, were also unique, as they were made by hand.

Among the boxes are Ampex and Scotch video tape cases, LP record cases, Hampa Pak picnic trays and the colourful Gustavsberg salad bowls. A few non-authentic boxes are included here. Also visible is a Kaiser cable release (used to activate a camera shutter), which is part of the Alpha laser rifle.
