Medical clothing

On Moonbase Alpha, doctors and nurses wear normal uniforms, but it would be more hygienic to wear smocks and other special clothing at times.

Lab coats

Helena occasionally wears a white lab coat in Year 2. They are of several different designs.

The lab coat in The Metamorph and The Exiles. It has wide lapels, and the fabric belt is held by loops. In the first episode only, Helena wears an ID badge on the front chest pocket, but in every other episode it is on her uniform (and thus partially obscured).

The regular lab coat seen in 4 other episodes (Space Warp, The Bringers of Wonder part 1, The Lambda Factor, Dorzak) has no lapels, and no chest pocket. The fabric belt is tried around the front with no loops on the coat itself.

Helena wears a sleeveless lab coat in Catacombs Of The Moon.

The only other "lab coat" we see in Medical is in Dorzak, worn by Dr Ed Spencer. This is actually a white sports jacket, with the logo of the manufacturer (British sports clothing company Umbro).

We also see non-medical lab coats for Queller in Voyager's Return and Warren in The Troubled Spirit.

Medical Gowns

During surgery and autopsies, in both Year 1 and 2, medical staff wear standard surgical gowns, closed at the back, with high necks and worn with hair caps and often masks.

We see gowns in Matter Of Life And Death, The Troubled Spirit and Space Brain. In Space Brain Helena and the nurse wear head bands, rather than full hair caps.

In Alpha Child for a child birth, they wear clear plastic smocks. These are later seen in End Of Eternity for an autopsy, with no hair-covering.

We see the regular white surgical gowns in Space Warp, Catacombs Of The Moon, The Lambda Factor and Dorzak. In these episodes, Helena wears a different type of hair cap to the others, with large bows.

Nurse uniforms

A white nurses's uniform, with dress, short sleeves and badge on right shoulder, is seen in The Exiles, The A B Chrysalis and Catacombs Of The Moon. In all other episodes, the nurses wear regular Alphan uniforms.
