HUNGARYActress Catherine Schell, actor Sandor Eles and director Peter Medak were born in Hungary, but all fled the communist regime (which finally collapsed in 1990).
Space: 1999 was dubbed into Hungarian (Magyar), with the title "Alfa holdbázis" (Alpha Moonbase). Each batch of episodes was shown with new dubbing.
It was first shown in Hungary in April 1977 on Magyar TV (MTV1). Six episodes of Year One were shown on Thursdays at 8pm. In 1979, six episodes of Year 2 were shown on MTV2, in a floating timeslot around 8pm on weekdays. A further 5 episodes of Year One appeared on MTV1 in 1984-5, back in the Thursday 8pm slot.
In 2005, the channel FILMM showed the complete Year One, with new dubbing (and episode titles) and mostly in production order, on Thursdays and Fridays at 8pm.
