Fan clubs

From 1977 I joined S.p.a.c.e. (via the Look-In comic notice), which quickly led to the Nick Tate fan club. In 1978 I joined Omicorn (16 Mar 1978, a Star Trek club erroneously listed under Space: 1999, they received so many fan queries they added a Space 1999 section). Shortly after, Mini-Mag (7 Apr 1978, issue #3, getting 1 and 2 a week later). Adverts in these gave me contacts to get audio tapes of episodes (19 Feb 1979).

UK fan clubs led me to American clubs, first Main Mission Alpha (15 Nov 1979) followed by the International Space: 1999 Alliance (8 Apr 1980). From adverts in those I started buying American merchandise (see 14 Jul 1980), numerous photographs, and script photocopies (15 Sep 1980, my first being Return of the Dorcons and Seance Spectre; Lambda Factor on 6 Feb 1981, Taybor on 12 Feb 1981; most other y2 scripts arrived in 1981- note that I had not seen these episodes, and knew them only from audio tapes and novels).
