Sacramento, in California's Central Valley, watched Space: 1999 on the ABC affiliate, KOVR (Channel 13). It is also in viewing range of San Francisco to the west (KRON-TV) and Chico to the north (KHSL Channel 12, a CBS then NBC affiliate). Sometimes stations from Reno, Nevada, in the east could be seen.

To the south in the San Joaquin Valley is the largest city of the Central Valley, Fresno. KFSN-TV (Channel 30) in Fresno (then a CBS affiliate) carried Year 1 in weeknight prime-time - Wednesdays at 8. Apparently it did not pick up Year 2. The Visalia-Fresno station KMPH-TV (Channel 26) did show Year 2, and used Catherine Schell's Year 2 promo.

Bakersfield is at the southern end of the San Joaquin Valley, betweeen Fresno and Los Angeles. There, KERO-TV (Channel 23, then an NBC affiliate) carried Year 2.
